Machine Comparison

I couldn't wait to preorder the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine because, to be perfectly honest, Mr. Big (the Big Shot) has seen better days. He was getting kind of cranky (heh) about embossing evenly, and I had a feeling his gears were about to give out.

So, I was holding my breath and crossing my fingers that he'd last until the new machine came out. Thankfully, he did! Now I can put him out to pasture and start using the new machine, which I'm calling 'Bossy (short for embossing). And when the new mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine becomes available, I'm naming that one Baby 'Boss. 😁

Here is a comparison, size-wise, of the two machines. If you have limited crafting real estate on your desk, then 'Bossy is the clear winner. Not only that, but she's prettier, too. 💖

Big Shot:
  • 8-1/4" wide, with handle 12"
  • 14-1/4" long
Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (aka 'Bossy)
  • 10" wide, with handle 13-5/8"
  • 6-3/8" long (closed), 14" long (open)
The machine comes with 1 Base Plate (Plate 1), 1 Die Plate (Plate 2), 2 Cutting Plates (Plate 3), and 1 Specialty Plate (Plate 4). The Magnetic Plate is not available yet.

'Bossy is going to be much easier to keep clean, too. I'll keep her closed when not in use, so I'll just need to wipe her off with a microfiber cloth to keep her looking like new. And, in case you have some of the old Bigz dies, they will work in the new machine!

Right now the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine is only available to Stampin' Up! demonstrators as a preorder item, but if you join SU this month you can add it to your starter kit! If you'd rather wait, then it will be available for everyone on September 1st.
