CCM Saturday Blog Hop - On the Ground

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is the opposite of last week's In the Sky theme. This time we're "On the Ground" so we can use anything normally found on the ground. Since I have Christmas on the brain, I immediately thought of snow! It's been so dang hot and humid here that I'm longing for cool, brisk weather.

Have you jumped on the Mini Slim bandwagon yet? I struggle with the full size slim line cards but the mini slims are a whole different story! There are slight variations in dimensions between designers, but I like the 3-1/4" x 6-1/4" size best because I can use a half sheet of 6" x 6" DSP as a background if I want.

But as you can see, I didn't use any DSP here. I made a mask from copy paper and used Blending Brushes to make the snowy hills, then stamped the trees in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent. After making the greeting label, I stamped the rabbit on a scrap of Basic White, colored it with Blends and fussy cut it before popping it on dimensionals.

That's my share for today. Click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - In the Sky

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is anything that is normally found in the sky. I had all kinds of ideas - clouds, rain, snowflakes, the sun, rainbows, but ultimately settled on birds. We have so many varieties of birds here in East Tennessee, and I love looking out my craft room window at them. In fact, they can be quite distracting when I'm trying to get things done!

I pulled out an old favorite for this card; Free as a Bird. When it came out there was some lovely DSP that coordinated with it but, sadly, it's retired and I can't use it. (Not that I don't have three and a half packs, I just can't use it here, lol.)

I love the strips of yellow DSP over the Smoky Slate DSP, picking up the birds' colors. It's a good way to use up those little DSP pieces you can't bear to throw away!

That's my share for today. Click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Control Freaks Animal Antics

The Freaks' theme this month is Animal Antics and I can't wait to see what the Freaks have created because we have so many great animal stamps! If you just landed here from the very talented Debbie's blog, Debbie Henderson Designs, welcome! There are seven of us on this hop, so there is sure to be something to tickle your fancy.

I was reeeeallly tempted to use the animal-theme stamps from the upcoming Jul-Dec Mini Catalog (squeeee!), but I want to save them for my 12 days of Christmas in July that starts later this week. 😁 🎄 💓 So, I'm focusing on two stamp sets from the annual catty; Nature's Beauty and Pampered Pets (in this household also known as spoiled-rotten brats, lol).

Up first is Nature's Beauty. I wanted to keep the color scheme a muted wintery gray to coordinate with the absolutely stunning Peaceful Place Specialty DSP coming August 3rd in the Jul-Dec Mini. Hey, I never said I wasn't going to use products from the new mini, just not the animal stamps, hee-hee!

The rabbit image was perfect for this because it wasn't too large and fit in front of the silver-tipped evergreens. He was colored with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends, with a tiny bit of Flirty Flamingo inside its ear. The greeting is also from the new catalog in a set called Peaceful Deer (which you will be seeing more of in the 12 Days.....) A couple strips of Silver Foil Specialty paper, a swirl of silver Simply Elegant Trim, and some Silver Epoxy Essentials completed the card.

My second card just makes me smile all over my face! I adore that kitty image in Pampered Pets, but I wanted to use it on a holiday card. What to do, what to do? Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder & Die to the rescue! Isn't that embossed die cut just the most beautimous thing ever?!

I added some Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, and Polished Pink to the die cut with Blending Brushes and Sponge Daubers. The stitched rectangle with the image is also in the Merriest Frames bundle, and a Polished Pink 2-1/8" x 2-7/8" mat fits perfectly behind it. After stamping the feline in Basic Gray, I stamped again on a sticky note to cut a mask. Then I added Polished Pink behind her with a Blending Brush. The greeting, stamped in Basic Gray, is from Merriest Moments which is part of the bundle with the embossing folder & dies.

I HAD to add something shiny, of course, and the Artistry Blooms adhesive-backed sequins did it perfectly. And see that tiny bow on her royal highness' neck? That's a narrow strip of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon held on with a tiny dot of Shimmery Crystal Effects.

That's all the goodies I have to share today. Up next is the amazing Bree, at Craft-somnia Momma.
