My Inky Friends Challenge #12 - Color!

https://myinkyfriends.blogspot.com/2018/11/my-inky-friends-design-challenge-12.html

I have to admit, when I first saw the colors in this MIF Design Challenge, I was stumped for ideas. I could see the Mango Melody, Lemon Lime Twist, and Pool Party together, but Rich Razzleberry had me scratching my head. I think the problem was, I was trying to work it into a holiday card, and it just wasn't clicking for me. Then I spotted the Butterfly Gala bundle sitting on my side table and inspiration struck - I could use preorder goodies from the Occasions catalog! To heck with the holidays!!!

Heart's Delight Cards, Butterfly Gala, Butterflies, Occasions 2019, All Occasion, Stampin' Up!

I knew there was Lemon Lime Twist in the Gingham Gala DSP pack, and I could color the Silver Metallic Edge ribbon with a Pool Party Stampin' Blends Marker. All I needed were some mango and raspberry butterflies to punch out and adhere!

Heart's Delight Cards, Butterfly Gala, Butterflies, Occasions 2019, All Occasion, Stampin' Up!

The Whisper White background was stamped with (stamped off once) Pool Party butterflies to make a subtle background. After adding the gingham DSP and ribbon, a Pool Party mat was adhered to the back and the butterflies were added to the front. I think it looks nice and Spring-like on this cold snowy day!

Here are pics of the Butterfly Gala photopolymer stamp set, and the Butterfly Duet Punch, which are on page 35 of the upcoming Occasions catalog. NOTE: The catalogs will be mailed out around the middle of December, so if you want me to add you to my mailing list, let me know!

Stamp Club Christmas Fun!

Heart's Delight Cards, Christmas Traditions Punch Box, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Yesterday we had the twice delayed monthly Second Saturday Stamp Club. The first delay was because I was in Orlando on the second Saturday, and the week following I was sick with the "souvenir" I brought home. *rolls eyes*

Heart's Delight Cards, Christmas Traditions Punch Box, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Anyhoo, I'm better now, and this was one of the cards we made. I followed Kylie Bertucci's "Love it, chop it" mantra by using lots of DSP! There are patterns from the All is Bright DSP in the Holiday catalog, as well as Under the Mistletoe from the Annual catalog.

Heart's Delight Cards, Christmas Traditions Punch Box, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

Lots of layers gong on with this card! Not only the background DSP, but a Pearlized Doily, a stitched circle, a Silver Glimmer snowflake from the Snowfall Thinlits (which ends in Five days!), AND a punched greeting from the Christmas Traditions Punch Box. Whew! I did cheat a bit with the Real Red stitched satin ribbon, which is retired, since I didn't have any current ribbon that would work.

Measurements
 Greeting: Whisper White scrap
 Snowflake: Silver Glimmer Paper 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"
 Stitched circle: Whisper White 2-3/4" x  2-3/4"
DSP square: Under the Mistletoe 3" x 3"
 Mat: Whisper White 3-1/4" x  3-1/4"

Just Because Sneek Peek

Heart's Delight Cards, Just Because, Occasions 2019, Sneak Peek, Thinking of You, Stampin' Up!

This is one of the stamps in the beautiful Just Because host set coming in the Occasions catalog. I love the simplicity of the images - very quick to color, or just heat emboss and leave as-is!

Heart's Delight Cards, Just Because, Occasions 2019, Sneak Peek, Thinking of You, Stampin' Up!

I made this for a friend's husband who just had knee replacement surgery. The fact that the houseplant image isn't too flowery and feminine made it work well for a guy's get well card! And the square knot faux bow from the navy gingham ribbon isn't too girly, either. *smile*

Heart's Delight Cards, Just Because, Occasions 2019, Sneak Peek, Thinking of You, Stampin' Up!

I carefully inked up the potted plant with Soft Suede, and then the greeting with Night of Navy. It is all one stamp, so I may surgically separate them next time. The image was colored with the Stampin' Blends listed below.

Measurements
 Image panel: Whisper White 2-1/2" x 4"
 Mat: Night of Navy 3" x 4-1/2"
 Embossed background: Whisper White 4-1/8" x 5-3/8"
Card base: Whisper White Thick 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"

Home for the Holidays Tour de Freaks

Welcome once again to the monthly Tour de Freaks! This month we are celebrating all things warm and cozy - Home for the Holidays! You may have landed here from Debbie's blog, Debbie's Designs. Weren't her projects awesome? There are ten of us on this month's hop, so click the button at the bottom of each stop to hop on to the next stop!

When I think 'home for the holidays' I think of families gathering together from near and far, eating together, lots of laughter, and making new happy memories. Sadly, our own offspring won't be able to come this year, so it will just me and hubby and the fur kids. So, I built this little Dawn of Christmas Day scene and imagined the goings-on inside.

Heart's Delight Cards, Farmhouse Christmas, Hearts Come Home, Control Freaks, Stampin' Up!

Dad woke up extra early to get the fire going in the fireplace while Mom hurried into the kitchen to start breakfast. The dog is hanging nearby, but not exactly under foot, hoping a treat will fall. Meanwhile, the cat is weaving in and out of her legs, demanding breakfast. (Sound familiar?) If Mom was smart, she'd have started a crock pot breakfast casserole the night before so the house would be smelling heavenly already, and she could relax. She's got the coffee pot going and now is settling down in the living room next to her honey to enjoy the fire.

Soon the kids are awake and running down the stairs to see what Santa has brought them. Chaos ensues, with many exclamations of happiness, wrapping paper flying everywhere, the cat pouncing on the ribbons & bows, and the dog is hoping one of those packages has treats, since nothing fell in the kitchen.

Heart's Delight Cards, Farmhouse Christmas, Hearts Come Home, Control Freaks, Stampin' Up!

Well, that's how I imagined it, anyway. *smile* What really happened in our house was the kids would be awake long before dawn and would wake us up.....right up until they became teenagers. Then we'd be up and finished with a whole pot of coffee, with rumblings in our stomachs demanding breakfast, and finally at round 10:00 a.m.or so, we'd be waking them up, LOL.

Heart's Delight Cards, Farmhouse Christmas, Hearts Come Home, Control Freaks, Stampin' Up!

Three stamp sets were used to create this card - Farmhouse Christmas for the house and bare tree, Nature Sings for the evergreens, and Hearts Come Home for the greeting. A scrap of Wood Textures DSP built the fence, with Poppy Parade bows to decorate it.

Heart's Delight Cards, Farmhouse Christmas, Hearts Come Home, Control Freaks, Stampin' Up!

The Shimmery White background was sponged with Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, and Balmy Blue. After figuring where the snow was going to be, I stamped the evergreens on the background and filled them in with a Shaded Spruce Stampin' Write marker, then built the rest of the scene.

The Stamp Review Crew - First Frost

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2018/11/first-frost.html

Welcome to another edition of the Stamp Review Crew! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. You may have come from Mike's blog, Stampin' Style, or are just starting here. Either way, follow the links at the bottom to go on to the next stop, or click the banner above for the blog roll.

Today we are highlighting the versatile First Frost stamp set which is available in wood- or clear-mount (Holiday catalog, p. 37), and the coordinating Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies, both of which I am very happy to announce will be carried over when the Holiday catalog ends!

First Frost, Stamp Review Crew - First Frost, Frosted Bouquet Framelits, Stampin' Up!, SRC - First Frost

I wanted to keep my card cool and frosty (like it's been in the mornings here lately), so I chose the silvery frosty patterned paper in the Frosted Floral Specialty DSP and added a few Tranquil Tide stamped sprigs to the DSP to coordinate with the color theme.

First Frost, Stamp Review Crew - First Frost, Frosted Bouquet Framelits, Stampin' Up!, SRC - First Frost

After I had stamped and framed the greeting and popped it up on the Silver Foil die cut sprigs, I thought it needed a blossom accent. I tried a couple of stamped ones, but they were just a little too large. Then it struck me that I could fussy cut some perfect-sized blossoms from the DSP, so I layered them, and added a bit of bling to match the silver sprigs.

First Frost, Stamp Review Crew - First Frost, Frosted Bouquet Framelits, Stampin' Up!, SRC - First Frost

The inside was stamped with more sprigs, in stamped off Tranquil Tide. I haven't decided what sentiment I want to put inside yet, so it's blank. The envelope was lined with more of the silvery DSP to tie it all together!
