Control Freaks are Splashing Colors!

Welcome to the April 2018 Tour de Freaks! This month our theme is Splash of Color, and I immediately thought of the new 2018-2020 In Colors because they are, well....colorful! I'm the first of the six stops on the tour, but you may have landed here from Wendy's blog, Wickedly Wonderful Creations. Love her colorful take on our theme! Just keep clicking the links to see all the colorful goodness.

At this time of year, when the retiring list comes out and the preorder from the new catalog is available to us demonstrators, I like to do a "something old, something new" theme, combining retiring items with new products. And that's just what I did on this card!

The Just Add Color specialty DSP is going to retire next month. I'll be sorry to see it go, because if you like coloring (and I definitely do!), this is a fabulous way to make a cute, colorful card.

I used every one of the new In Colors on it, too! They are Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, and my fave, Blueberry Bushel. A whole beautiful rainbow! The greeting was borrowed from the March Paper Pumpkin kit. I thought it was so perfect for the watering can and flowers!

That's all I have for today. My sister is visiting, so I didn't get to spend much time in the craft room. Now hop on over to LeeAnn's blog, FlowerBug's Inkspot, and see what colorful goodness she has for you!

Color Revamp and Retiring Core Colors

I know the Inky Friends just did a hop highlighting the retiring 2016-2018 In Colors. Those didn't come as a surprise, since we know they only stay for two years. And I know that every few years Stampin' Up! refreshes their color collection to stay on trend. That's a very good thing! I am really excited about the new colors that are coming. It's the artist in me....I can't help loving ALL colors!

Heart's Delight Cards, 2018 Color Revamp, Retiring Colors, Stampin' Up!

But I must say I was a little teeny bit surprised at a few of the retiring colors. Specifically Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, and Wild Wasabi.

Do you have any of the retiring colors* in your ink pad collection? If so, you should seriously consider getting ink refills for them soon. They are only guaranteed to be available through May 7th, and then "while supplies last" through May 31st. These are usually the first things that sell out, for obvious reasons!

A word about the new ink formulation: You can use the new formula ink with the built in de-foamer on your old style pads, so there is no need to replace your old foam pads that are carrying over. It would eventually replace all the old ink on the pad so you'd get the benefit of smoother coverage without the bubbles. You can also use the old formula ink on the new pads, but why would you want to? It would defeat the purpose of the added de-foamer! NOTE: The exception to this is Basic Gray. Do not use the old Archival ink refill on the new style Basic Gray pad - it will ruin the foam pad!

I plan to get the new colors when they are available, and gradually replace the old style pads as they wear out. No need to spend a bunch of my stamp money on ink pads when there are so many other goodies in the new catalog to spend it on!

Stampin' Up! is going to release the Share What You Love Suite starting May 1st! There will be four bundles to choose from, so you won't have to wait until the new annual catalog comes out to get your hands on new stuff, woohoo!!! The first three bundle comes with free items (free products are based on which bundle is chosen).

Can you tell which bundle I got, based on the products used on this card? Tee-hee! I used the Lovely Floral Dynamic embossing folder on some Shimmery White cardstock with sponge daubers to lightly add color. Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow, and Grapefruit Grove coordinate beautifully!

Varied Vases Sneak Peek!

Heart's Delight Cards, Varied Vases, Lilypad Lake, Stampin' Up!

Giving you a little sneaky peeky at a stamp set called Varied Vases that's coming in the new annual catalog June 1st!. This is from a stamp set designed by Mary Fish when she hit the million dollar sales milestone. It is such a fun photopolymer set with 34 pieces and a coordinating punch!

I used one of the new In Colors, Lovely Lipstick, for the flowers and mat, and Pool Party Stampin' Blends to color the water in the vase.

That Coastal Cabana (returning color!) squiggly line background isn't some new's a stamp from another new set called Lilypad Lake. Since the stamp is only four inches long, I stamped it in line, knowing I could cover the "seam" with the image. The Coastal Cabana coordinates so well with the Pool Party water in the vase!

I'll have another sneak peek tomorrow of an exciting new Early Release that starts May 1st!

Oh, man, you are going to love it!!!

My Inky Friends - Retiring In Colors

The Inky Friends are bidding a fond farewell to the 2016-2018 In Colors. I think this group of colors was the first time I really loved ALL the colors, but my favorite is Dapper Denim. Can't help it....if it's blue, I'm gonna love it! Here's the list of retiring IN Colors, but I have to let you know that while Flirty Flamingo is not going to be an In Color anymore, it IS returning as a core color in the Brights Collection, woohoo!

I'm the first stop on the hop, but you may have landed here from Sharleen's blog, Stamp With Shar. Didn't she make you want something peachy? There are ten of us today, so just click the links to keep moving through the hop.

I combined several retiring items to keep good ol' Dapper Denim company. First is the Flower Shop stamp set and the coordinating Pansy Punch. They made quick work of adding dimension to the card. Using the crackled paint DSP in the retiring Color Theory DSP for the background really makes them stand out!

I did use a greeting from A Good Day, since there weren't any in Flower Shop. I'm happy to say that it's carrying over, along with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and the Leaf Punch.

That's my Dapper Denim card for today. I may have more later, before it's gone forever. Up next is Kris, a.k.a. Paper Fairy Kris. Check out what she's doing with Emerald Envy!

Not So Bad, After All!

The day that I dread every year has come, and I have to tell you - it's not nearly as bad as I had anticipated! In fact, with very few exceptions, I'd have to say it's all GOOD!

First of all, the carnage on my stamp shelf won't be as unpleasant as in years past, because Stampin' Up! decided to focus on a major revamp of their color selection. And that makes me absolutely giddy!

I'm going to post the link to the retiring lists for the Occasions Catalog and the 2017 Annual Catalog below. You may notice that ALL the colors of ink pads are on the list, but don't panic! It's because the ink pads themselves have also been reconfigured.

So, the list of ink styles/colors that are really retiring are:
  • Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival inks
  • 2016-2018 In Colors
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Island Indigo
  • Tempting Turquoise
  • Marina Mist
  • Soft Sky
  • Pink Pirouette
  • Rose Red
  • Wild Wasabi
  • Always Artichoke
  • Wisteria Wonder
  • Perfect Plum
  • Elegant Eggplant
  • Tangerine Tango
Remember, if you want something from the retiring list, especially anything color related, get it a.s.a.p. because they always sell out before the official end of the catalogs. And if you get ink pads, don't forget to get refills for them!

Now, are you ready for the new revamped color families? Drum roll, please!
Smiley from Millan.Net

Take a gander!

You can click on it to make it larger. I'm so excited about the new greens, blues, and purples. And positively thrilled that some of my favorites have returned! Now are you ready to see the 2018-2020 In Colors? Lookie!

Trust me, these pictures on your screen are not nearly as fabulous as the real thing! For my customers who have ordered from me within the past year, I will be sending the new annual catalog next month and will include an updated color chart with samples of each cardstock!

You may have noticed the conspicuous absence of Basic Black, Whisper White, and Very Vanilla. That's because they have their very own category now, called Basics. So when you add them all together, we will have 53 colors, instead of 50 as in years past!

I'd love to know what you will miss the most on the retiring list. And what is your favorite new color?

Downline Gifts

Heart's Delight Cards, Bag Tags, Downline Gifts, Stampin' Up!

It's a tradition for Stampin' Up! demos to make little convention gifts for their downline or room mates. Since this was the first time either of my ladies have been to a SU event, I made little gift bags with some essentials that I knew they'd need. Things like a little decorated steno notebook for taking notes at the event, and a pack of sticky note flags for their new catalog. (I expect there won't be enough flags, LOL.)

Heart's Delight Cards, Bag Tags, Downline Gifts, Stampin' Up!

Other essential items include a bottle of water and some mix-ins, a few snacks, and the all-important BAG TAG!

Heart's Delight Cards, Bag Tags, Downline Gifts, Stampin' Up!

What happens when you go to a SU event and they hand out the awesome bags (with goodies!) to every attendee? You have hundreds of look-alike bags with no way to tell them apart!

Heart's Delight Cards, Bag Tags, Downline Gifts, Stampin' Up!

There are so many variations on the bag tags, I can't even begin to name them ll. Everything from ribbons tied on, to laminated name tags, to hand crafted tags like these. The DSP and color on the bag tags coordinate with the hand crafted bags of essentials, giving a classy custom look. I sure had fun making them, and used some retired DSP and trinkets, too!

Stay tuned for big news tomorrow. The retiring list comes out. Duh duh DUHNNNN!
