CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Bringing in the New Year!

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Bringing in the NEW YEAR! Hellloooo, 2023! When I made this card earlier this week, the temperature was waaayyyy below freezing, with wind chills in the negative teens. 😱

We aren't used to that stuff here in the South, but it inspired me to use the Joyful Flurries bundle, because I was hoping, if it had to be that cold, that we'd get a bunch of snow to go with it. Nope. Got barely an inch, but hey, it was so cold that it stuck around a few days, so there's that. 😆

The Joyful Flurries bundle is retiring Jan. 4th, IF it lasts that long. Sadly, the Snowflake Specialty Vellum is already sold out. I wish I had grabbed more before it was gone.

That's all for today - HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU and see you next Saturday! Up next is Libby Fens at Libby Stamps. Or click the "back" button to go back to Lori at Loritamarie Crafts.

Stamp Review Crew - Merriest Moments

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Merriest Moments edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Jay's blog, welcome! There are six of us today, and as always, you can click the banner at the top of each blog to see the blog roll.

Merriest Moments and the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder (with dies) was a returning fave in the Jul-Dec mini catalog. Sadly, it won't be returning after this mini ends on Jan. 4. so if it hasn't sold out, better grab it while you can.

I have two cards today. For the first card, I used the holly leaves and berry stamps to create my own specialty DSP background on the Lights Aglow Specialty DSP.

The leaves were stamped in Evening Evergreen and the berries in Cherry Cobbler. A narrow strip of gold (Fine Shimmer Paper coming Jan. 5) borders each side. The greeting (Cherry Cobbler) was die cut using a Labels Aglow die, which will be carried over. A loop of gold shimmer ribbon was added because....MORE SHINY GOLD STUFF!

The second card started with a watercolor wash on Fluid 100 paper using Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, and Evening Evergreen. After it was dry, it was embossed with the Merriest Frames folder and cut with the coordinating die. Some paint spatters were then flicked on to look like snow. I embossed a piece of Basic White for the background and adhered the die cut over it with liquid glue.

The greeting and poinsettias were stamped in Cherry Cobbler (with Evening Evergreen leaves) and a couple of Garden Green sprigs were added behind the poinsettias.

OH! I almost forgot the Evening Evergreen glimmer paper mat behind the greeting! Needed a bit more bling in addition to the Iridescent Pearls. *smile*

That's all I have to share for today, so click "Next" to see what Mike at Stampin-Style created, or "Previous" to visit Jay again!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Modern Christmas

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is MODERN CHRISTMAS. I thought some non-traditional colors would work, and paired a couple of new papers with a retiring one.

Rather than go with the usual decorated tree or wreath or sprigs of holly, I chose the smaller die cut tree in the Tree Trimmings Dies and cut some from Boughs of Holly DSP, but left them undecorated.

The trees were adhered over the GORGEOUS gold Fine Shimmer Paper (coming Jan. 5th) that was cut with the Split Cards Textures die. The gold die cut was adhered to Delicate Desert DSP (also coming Jan. 5th) and then to a Very Vanilla mat before being attached to the card base. That gold Fine Shimmer is so beautiful, I didn't feel a need to add any more bling!

That's all for today - see you Saturday the 31st! We're taking next week off for the holiday. Wishing you and yours a warm, wonderful day filled with happy memories!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Country Christmas

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is COUNTRY CHRISTMAS! We have a country Christmas every year here in the boondocks, haha. I loooove big old barns, so Christmas Barn was a must-have for me!

When it snows, the colors seem to disappear leaving the barn looking gray, and the trees, as well. The only pop of color is the people enjoying the sleigh ride (which is on my bucket list)!

I used some red gingham from the soon to retire Gingham Cottage DSP for a pop of color in the background. And it's hard to see, but before I die cut the holly berries, I put a piece of packing tape over them so they'd be shiny.

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - All That Glistens

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is All that Glistens, meaning lots of shine and/or sparkle. Stampin' Up! has lots of options when it comes to shiny, sparkly stuff, so this was a fun one for me!

Glistening things make me think of snow, so I went straight for the Joyful Flurry Bundle, pairing it with white glimmer paper, silver foil, and some new GORGEOUS Textured Shimmer Paper that's coming in January! It's a very fine corrugated, shimmery paper and the pack includes Balmy Blue (used here), white, and Shaded Spruce.

I really tried to capture the shimmer, but you may need to click on the pic to enlarge it and see for yourself. There's glimmer on foil on shimmer! 💙
