CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Birthday

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is birthday! It doesn't matter what time of year it is, birthday cards are needed year-round. I made a fabulous card to show off next week's pre-release Eden's Garden set. When I was finished I realized I had used the wrong set that won't be available until January! D'oh! *smacks forehead* So, I'll save that one for another day and show you THIS one, with the proper set! (Just a bit distracted - Mom was having surgery for invasive melanoma as I was making the cards.)

The greenery was stamped in Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent on Basic White, and Soft Succulent was also brushed on the cardstock for subtle color. After cutting with the Stitched Rectangle, it was adhered on top of the Macrame 3D embossed background. The small Eden wreath die was used to cut the DSP wreath, which was added on top of the stamped panel.

After cutting 5" lengths of the ribbons, I tied a piece of gold trim around the middle, then folded them in half and held them in place with glue dots. Two leaf sprigs were cut from gold foil and added on top. The leafy banner was cut from Evening Evergreen with "BIRTHDAY" heat embossed in white. The gold "Happy" was glued on, then the banner was popped up on double dimensionals (accounting for the thickness of the ribbons). Gilded Gems completed the card!

That's my share for today. Libby is still helping out her mom, so click the Next button to jump over to Debbie at Debbie Henderson Designs, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Spooky Halloween

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is spoooooky Halloween, and in my book, there's not much spookier/creepier than spiders. I used to hate them, but now I tolerate them (outside only!) because they are good for the garden. But I DON'T tolerate their blood-sucking tick cousins. This is the time of year when the giant fat-bodied orb weavers spin their webs, and they truly are spectacular. But not when I face-plant into one at the top of the porch steps and nearly have a heart attack and break a hip! I've always named the orb weavers "Boris", with a nod to The Who. 😉

So, of course I had to make my spooky card spider-related! I used a Black Glitter Paper mat (4" x 5-1/4") and cut the spider web out of the center. On a piece of 3-3/4" x 5" Basic Black I adhered the DSP (2-7/8" x 5"). One more spider web was cut from a scrap of Basic Black and cut in half. Half was adhered (butted up against the DSP), and the other half was cut in half (making a quarter web) and glued to the upper left corner. Any excess was trimmed off.

I figured out the placement of the glitter web and made a little mark where the spider's thread should start, then stamped the spider. The glitter web was glued on and a Matte Black Dot was added to make the fat spider body (shudder). 😬 All that was left was to heat emboss the BOO from Time of Giving, cut it with an Ornate Frames die, and pop it up on dimensionals. Pretty cute for a creepy crawly, I guess.

That's my share for today. Libby has a family emergency this week, so click the Next button to jump over to Debbie Henderson at Debbie Henderson Designs, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Control Freaks Twisted Holidays

The Control Freaks theme this month is Holidays with a Twist, non-traditional holiday card color combinations. I can't wait to see what my fellow freaks cooked up! If you just landed here from Wendy's blog, Wickedly Wonderful Creations, welcome. There are six of us on this hop, so grab a cuppa and hop on the crazy train!

When I was a child growing up, Christmas colors were red and green, with maybe some gold or silver thrown in. But traditionally, it was RED and GREEN. (Little Cindy stomps her foot for emphasis.) But as the decades passed (many, many decades), I've come to soften my stance on Christmas colors, and even enjoy non-traditional colors now. Like pink and black!

This angel is the perfect size for a mini slim line card. Her Polished Pink flowing dress is reflected in the Polished Pink jewels adorning the snowflake behind her.

For interest, the black background is embossed with the Merry Melody 3D folder.

The next card is a fun color combination of Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana. I adore the Merriest Moments hybrid bundle which made this card come together so easy!

I'd say bright green and blue-green are definitely non-traditional!

That's all I have for today. Up next is Debbie, at Debbie Henderson Designs.

Stamp Review Crew - Birch

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Birch Background edition! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. I'm the first stop on the hop, but if you landed here from Holly's blog, Rubber Redneck, welcome! There are six of us today, so the hop won't take too long, but it's sure to be inspiring!

The Birch background stamp can be used for just about any background, as I've shown here with the first card. I chose pink (Flirty Flamingo) in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This card is dedicated to all the women who have battled and won, or are currently battling, the C beast.

The card also features a sneak peek at a new bundle called Blessings of Home. I got to pre-preorder it as an OnStage at Home participant. Just another perk of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!

Both the flowers and the sentiment are in the stamp set. This was the smaller of the two floral images.

My next (and last) card was made for my BFF's husband, who had a heart attack Friday night. 😟 Fortunately he's okay, but he had to have stents put in, and my poor BFF couldn't be with him in the hospital due to.... well, we all know.

Anyhoo, he's a really great guy and loves nature and the outdoors, so I think this card (that also uses the Nature's Beauty stamp set) is perfect for him. The greeting was borrowed from Blossoms In Bloom.

Since the card colors, aside from the image, were mainly white, black, and Crumb Cake, I got "knotty" with the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack. Heh. Thought it looked manlier than rhinestones or pearls. *grin*

That's all I have for today, so click NEXT to see what Nikki Spencer at My Sandbox has made!
