CSF Saturday Blog Hop - One Layer Cards

Today's Create With Stamping Friends Saturday Hop theme is one layer cards. There were lots of ways to go with this theme, like creating a faux DSP background, but I went with CAS because that was more of a challenge to me. You know I love layers and textures and embellishments, definitely not a single layer!

I used a piece of scrap paper to make the mask using a Perennial Postage die, and blended Azure Afternoon onto the card base. Before removing the mask, I carefully traced around it with a pencil to give it more of a 3D look.

The balloons were stamped and colored with watercolor pencils, because Stampin' Blends would have bled through to the inside. Then I spattered Wink of Stella over it before removing the mask. I was afraid using embellishments would be cheating, lol.

The corner daisies are one of the dies in the Spring Corners bundle. I like that they added a little texture without adding any layers. All that was needed at that point was the birthday greeting, and the card was complete!

Thursday Challenge - CSF865

This week's Create With Stamping Friends Thursday Challenge is a sketch:

I finally found the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP that I knew I had ordered, but somehow misplaced. It was hiding in plain sight, but because my craft room is such a disaster, I didn't see it. Yikes. 😬

Soooo, I used the patterned paper and some of the included die cuts to create this card. The greeting was borrowed from the Simply Said stamp set because it was a perfect fit. And can you believe I didn't use any embellishments?!

Measurements

  • Card base: Pool Party 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"
  • Striped background: 4" x 5-1/4"
  • Strip: Pool Party 1-1/4" x 4"

CSF Saturday Blog Hop - Outgoing In Colors

Today's Create With Stamping Friends Saturday Hop theme is the outgoing In Colors, and I'm singing the blues because one of my favorite blues, Boho Blue, is leaving. It paired so perfectly with Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy!

I stamped the blossoms from Blooming Phrases (Online Exclusive coming next month) using Boho Blue and Night of Navy (stamped off) and the leaves/stems with Garden Green.

After die cutting with the Textured Notes die, it was popped up on Misty Moonlight cut with the next larger die and then popped up on the Boho Blue card base. The "thanks" was stamped in N.O.N. on Boho Blue and also popped up. The Night of Navy bow is one of the Natural Tones Linen Thread colors, which is on the Last Chance list. Some Brushed Brass Butterflies are enjoying the pollen. *smile*

Thursday Challenge - CSF864

This week's Create With Stamping Friends Thursday Challenge is another color challenge - Peach Pie, Pecan Pie, and Old Olive. Mmmm, now I have a hankering for a slice of pie. (Funny side note: there's a tradition in our family when serving pie at Thanksgiving, to ask if the recipient wants a sliver, slice, or slab.) 😆

So here are the pie... I mean, color choices:

I used the Cheerful Daisies bundle for my card. Sadly, that's one of the items on the Last Chance list, and it's now in "low inventory" status. The daises were cut from Fluid 100 watercolor paper and painted with a water painter (now discontinued).

The ferny background is one of the Cheerful Daisies dies, and was cut from Old Olive cardstock.  I sure do like that Mini Corrugated embossing folder. Hope it sticks around for a while!

CSF Saturday Blog Hop - Miss the Most

Today's Create With Stamping Friends Saturday Hop theme is what we will miss the most of the products that are on the Last Chance list. There are so many it was hard to choose! But if I had to pick just a few, they would be all the things used on this card.

With the exception of the cardstock and ink, everything on this card is on the Last Chance list. 😔 This is the time of year that makes me a little sad. I know there will be new things to fill the empty spaces on my shelves, but it sure is hard saying goodbye to some things.
