The Freaks Are Getting Fancy (Folds, That Is!)

This month's edition of the Tour de Freaks is sure to be fun because we are featuring fancy folds, gift tags, or gift packaging, along with some sneak peeks from the upcoming Holiday Catalog! If you landed here from Melissa's blog, The Stamp Doc, welcome! Just follow the links on each blog to go to the next stop on the tour.

I knew immediately what I wanted to do when this theme came up. It's been so bloomin' HOT here that I can't wait for cooler weather and, dare I say it....SNOW?! We got slighted in the snow department last year, and I'm hoping this year will be different. So, with that in mind, pairing the new Snowman Season stamp set with the gorgeous Feels Like Frost Specialty DSP was a no-brainer!

If you have never made a Double Z-Fold card, you really must try it. It's so quick and easy and packs a little wow, too! Start with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock for the card base and score it at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2", then fold in a z-fold. Then do the same to another piece (1" x 11" used here). Flip it around, add your DSP or stamping and adhere it to the card base. So simple!

The snowman scene was colored with Seaside Spray and Purple Posy Combo Stampin' Blend Markers to coordinate with the Feels Like Frost DSP. Some Sparkle Glimmer Paper snowflakes were cut with the Frosted Frames Dies, which are part of the Feels Like Frost Suite.

The Stamp Review Crew - Birch

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/08/birch.html

It's the third Monday of the month and that means another fabulous hop from the Stamp Review Crew! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the globe who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Nikki's's blog, My Sandbox, welcome!

This time we are doing something a little different and featuring a background stamp called Birch. This is such a versatile stamp, and it makes me think of fall and winter, and the great outdoors. Fall can't get here soon enough, in my opinion. It's been HOT and muggy for too long!

Heart's Delight Cards, Birch, Stampin' Up!

Sine I'm longing for crisp days and sweaters and warm bowls of soup, I went with an autumn theme. The new Gather Together Bundle that will be available starting Sep. 4th made the perfect pairing with the Birch background.

The background was stamped in Basic Gray on Whisper White, then layered on Terracotta Tile. A Copper Trim bow was added before adhering it to a Crumb Cake mat, and then the card base.

The Gathered Leaves dies that coordinate with the Gather Together stamp set not only cut leaves, but emboss them, too! I inked the dies up before cutting the leaves to really make the details pop. (Just place the dies face down on whatever color ink pad you want and press gently. Then use tweezers to move the die onto your cardstock and cut it out with your die cutting machine.)

After heat embossing the greeting on Crumb Cake cardstock, I used the Everyday Label Punch to cut it, and then trimmed it down to make a smaller label. A copper Leaves Trinket completed the card.

This candle was so fun to do! I didn't have tissue paper to make a tissue paper stamped/wrapped/heat-set candle, so I used vellum instead. The Birch Background was stamped with StazOn ink in a piece of Vellum Cardstock cut to fit the candle. I used the same elements to decorate the candle as were used on the card.

And no worries about starting a fire - it's a battery-operated wax candle. *smile*

Up next is Leanne, over at Literally My Joy. I can't wait to see what she made!

The Stamp Review Crew - Above the Clouds

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/06/SH.html

It's the first Monday of the month and that means another wonderful hop from the Stamp Review Crew! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Bronwyn's's blog, AddINKtive Designs, welcome!

This time we are featuring the cute hot air balloon set called Above the Clouds. It has a coordinating Hot Air Balloon Punch for quick cardmaking!

My first card is a fairly quick CAS card. It only took a few minutes to apply the ink to the stamp with sponge daubers. (I think sponge daubers give you much more even coverage on this, and the DistINKtive type of stamp.)

Heart's Delight Cards, Above the Clouds, 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, Stampin' Up!, SRC - Above the Clouds

After inking and punching out the balloons, two of them were glued down, and the third one was popped up on dimensionals. The clouds, birds, and greeting were all stamped right on the card base.

Heart's Delight Cards, Above the Clouds, 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, Stampin' Up!, SRC - Above the Clouds

There isn't a punch or die for the banners, but it was simple to fussy cut since it was mostly straight edges. Easy peasy!

For the second card, I wanted to go with a monochromatic theme, and Pretty Peacock is my current favorite color, so....

I started by cutting the window frame with Rectangle Stitched Dies so I knew where to position the small balloons. They were stamped in Pretty Peacock ink, and colored with the Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends combo pack. (I messed up on one and colored the basket, too. Oops!)

Heart's Delight Cards, Above the Clouds, 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, Stampin' Up!, SRC - Above the Clouds

The large balloon was stamped, then the filler stamp was inked using a sponge dauber to apply the ink more heavily at the bottom, and fading toward the top. The basket was punched from Pretty Peacock cardstock. A banner, a strip of gingham DSP, and some faceted gems finished it off.
