The Stamp Review Crew - Barn Door

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2018/12/barn-door.html

The Stamp Review Crew is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who hope to inspire creativity by focusing on a single stamp set each month. It's fun to see how many different looks you can get from each set! If you are hopping from the beginning, you just landed here from Tanya's blog, Tinkerin In Ink with Tanya. I love all her creations!

The Crew's spotlight this time is on Barn Door, an eight piece red rubber set available in clear- or wood-mount. The Sliding Door Framelits Dies coordinate with it, and give you the means to build a real sliding door card, if you are inclined!

Since I still need a couple more Christmas cards, and they have to go out NOW if they are to arrive in time, I made this one holiday-themed. After stamping the wreath around the edge of the Crumb Cake card base with VersaMark ink, I thought buffalo check would make a perfect rustic background for the barn door. It was stamped in black on Shaded Spruce, and the edges were distressed. The door was stamped on Wood Textures DSP and shading was added with Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.

The wreath was stamped in Shaded Spruce, and then stamped again (after cleaning the stamp, of course!) in Poppy Parade so the flowers could be die cut. I did cheat a little more with the greeting and used Merry Christmas to All, since Barn Door didn't have a holiday greeting.

For my next card, I suddenly felt like Spring! I know we aren't even officially into Winter yet, but since the Occasions catalog preorder arrived here last week, with all its Spring-y goodness, I've had that on my mind. Besides, I'm about Christmas-carded out now!

On this CAS card I used the other wreath in the Barn Door set, coloring it with Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Write Markers, then huffing on it and stamping on Whisper White. The 'hello' was colored with the Black Stampin' Write Marker, leaving out the frame.

I added a 1/2" strip of All My Love DSP (coming January 3rd!) behind the wreath and greeting adhered over a Subtle Dynamic embossed background. It's so sweet, I didn't think it needed any embellishments!

Up next is Dawn, over at Tiddbits From Dawn. I love her style, too! (And frequently find myself saying, "Why didn't I think of that?!")

Organizing! (Again)

It's getting to be that time of year again, where I get the strong urge to make things orderly in my craft room. I know it's an uphill battle, which wouldn't be so bad if I'd quit adding more stuff.
HA....like that is ever going to happen!
I can count on three times a year that there will be new DSP added, and three times a year the old DSP will retire, and I can't bear to part with it. The new Occasions catalog will be out in less than three weeks, and I already have all the beautiful DSP in it and the SAB flyer, so I need to make some room!

https://amzn.to/2LfFdpn

My solution, which I talked about in this post, are these awesome divided ArtBin containers. They hold a ton of DSP that I've cut down to a convenient 4" x 6" size, and separated with labeled dividers. They're even available in several different colors, but I prefer the clear.

I put the name of the DSP at the top of the divider, and then list the coordinating colors for easy reference later. It's especially helpful when colors retire, because I know I'll never remember the names of some of them! Next month I plan to bless the local elementary school with some long-retired paper that I know I will never use. I think I'm ready to say good-bye to some of them. Maybe. I'm sure the teachers can think up something fun for the kids to do with it!

My Inky Friends - Inking Up the Holidays

https://myinkyfriends.blogspot.com/2018/11/inking-up-holidays-2018-blog-hop.html?fbclid=IwAR2tffHcgAsr4RxhNWaPohhVBFJLEOM32G3qcRxxJvVNvbVU4iKKuqAETN8

Hello, stamping friends, and welcome to another My Inky Friends blog hop! There are only three stops this time since everyone is so busy with the holidays - and speaking of holidays, that is the theme this time!

Heart's Delight Cards, MIF Inking Up the Holidays, Nature Sings, CAS, #simplestamping, Stampin' Up!

I'm really in a time crunch for getting my cards done and in the mail, so I decided to fall back on simple stamping for this card. One stamp set, ink pads, and cardstock. I think it turned out pretty well! I cut a mask from copy paper to use for the snowy hill and dragged a Pool Party ink pad across for the sky. The streaks remind me of the shimmery curtains of Northern Lights. Leaving the mask in place, the trees were stamped in Tranquil Tide.

I used Soft Suede for the elk and added a bit more color with a Blender Pen. After stamping the Tranquil Tide greeting, some sparkly snow was added with Clear Wink of Stella.

It's a Piece of Cake!

This is the other card we made Saturday. I was inspired by Patty Bennett's coloring and wanted to recreate it on a simple to make card. On a quarter sheet of Whisper White, we stamped the cake and cake plate on the lower right, leaving room for the die cut Stitched Label and Stitched Rectangle greeting. Helpful hint: Use the Cake Builder Punch on a scrap of cardstock and save it in your stamp set as a guide for lining up the stamps - you can get both the cake and the plate stamped at the same time and it will fit the punch perfectly!

We die cut the Stitched Label, then stamped the greeting and used a Rectangle Stitched Framelit to cut it out. The floral cake topper was stamped directly on the label (about 1/8" from the stitches at the top) and colored with Stampin' Blends. After coloring the cake and plate, they were punched and glued under the cake topper.

The Stitched Label was adhered to a Subtle Dynamic embossed piece of Pool Party (3-5/8" x 4-7/8") with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. The whole thing was adhered to the card base and the greeting was popped up on dimensionals, too.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I'd be happy to send you the new catalog - just  contact me!
