CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Black and an In Color

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is inspired by another song title - "Two Black Cadillacs" - so we are using black plus a new In Color. I think any of the brighter In Colors (Tahitian Tide, Sweet Sorbet, and Parakeet Party) work beautifully with black, so I chose the one that really pops - Parakeet Party.

I got the Season of Chic bundle just so I could have that funky die cut grid background, lol. But once I got it, I realized there is a lot more to it, and I'm looking forward to using it for several seasons! (Helloooo, snowflakes!)

It's really hard to see the black on black, but there are two die cut black grids under the Distressed Gold grid. This is a case of it really does look better in real life. I stamped the flower filler in Parakeet Party on the matching cardstock before cutting it out and adding the outline die cut on top. Don't you think the flower trinket really is the cherry on top?!

Flowing Flowers & Free Shipping!

Tomorrow, Tuesday June 21st, Stampin' Up! is offering FREE SHIPPING on any order of $75 or more! What a great way to kick off the summer, right?

I figured since we are nearing the end of the Jan-Jun mini catalog, I'd feature one of the retiring stamps with the new In Colors, to remind you that some things are ending very soon!

Flowing Flowers is a nine piece DistINKtive stamp set, creating different opacities in a single image. I find it best to use a sponge dauber to add ink to the stamp so it preserves the details better. I really like the sentiments (and fonts) that are included in this set.

I think Sweet Sorbet and Orchid Oasis complement each other beautifully, so to tie the floral image in to the card, I added matching DSP strips behind the Stylish Shapes die cut circle.

The Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder adds in interesting background, and the new In Color Matte Dots matched perfectly!

Stamp Review Crew - Rays of Light

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Rays of Light edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Nikki's blog, welcome! There are seven of us today.

Rays of Light is a cling rubber background stamp, and I had SO many ideas of what to make with it....and only time to do one. *sad face* So, here is my measly one.

I used the new masking paper to mask off the ocean while I stamped the rays, and then the other half of the sheet to cover the rays and add the Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay ocean with Blending Brushes. Oh, and a Pacific Point Stampin' Write Marker. (You ever notice how sometimes the horizon on the ocean looks darker?)

The palm trees are from the Palms Dies, part of the Paradise Palms bundle, and I used the greeting from that set. The sea gulls were borrowed from Waves of Inspiration.

Since that's all I have to share for today, click "Next" to see what Betty created, or "Previous" to visit Nikki again!

The Control Freaks Favorite New In Color

The Freaky theme this month is our favorite new In Color. I love them all, so the favorite du jour is Orchid Oasis. If you landed here from Wendy's blog, welcome! There are four of us this time, so the hop won't take long!

I started with the yummy upcoming Sale-a-Bration bundle called Wonderful World. It's a cling stamp set and gorgeous DSP, and the DSP was the inspiration for this card.

The cornflower was colored with Orchid Oasis and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers, then stamped off once to make a faded background. I wanted the Charming Sentiments greeting to be the main focal point.

The Delicate Edges die cut made a pretty lacy border which just seemed "right" for the DSP.

The next card uses more of the Wonderful World DSP, but this time paired with the Amazing Year cling stamp set. I love the sentiments included with this set, as well as the wrapped gift and bouquet. Pretty and fun to color!

If you look closely you'll see that a Deckled Rectangle Die was used for the greeting, and if you look really closely, you may notice some shiny silver pearls. Those Festive Pearls are coming in the Jul-Dec catalog next month!

Up next is Bree, at Craft-somnia Momma.

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Shades of Blue

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is using shades of blue, which was inspired by the song "Blue Bird" - NOW we're talking my language! I was without Internet (& phone/TV) for ten whole days, so I had to sit out the last two hops. It's true, you don't know what you've got till it's gone, just like the song says. I'm so happy to be able to participate again!

I adore the two new blues in the 2022-2024 In Colors, so I put them both to use on this sweet little Sweet Songbirds card. After buffing Tahitian Tide toward the upper left of 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White CS, I adhered it to the card base and added a Starry Sky DSP circle die cut, popped up on dimensionals. Next came the Crumb Cake branch, which was fussy cut and adhered with glue.

The bird was stamped with Tahitian Tide and punched out, but instead of trying to line up and stamp that tiny beak, I grabbed a Stampin' Blend and carefully colored it in. The bird was popped up on dimensionals as was the wing, which was punched from a scrap of Tahitian Tide. I added the flower trinkets instead of stamping and fussy cutting leaves, 'cause I'm lazy like that. 😄 The greeting was die cut from the same Stylish Shapes Dies set.

That's all for today - see you next Saturday! Up next is Libby Fens at Libby Stamps. Or click the "back" button to go back to Lori at Loritamarie Crafts.

Last Chance Products

The Jan-Jun mini catalog is retiring the end of this month, and the retiring/last chance list is available now. There are some items that have been deeply discounted, so be sure to check them out! As always, these are “while supplies last” so don’t wait until the last minute. Click the image above or click HERE for the list.

Our Internet has been out since Tuesday, and they can’t get out here to fix it until next Tuesday, so I’m unable to participate in the Create With Connie & Mary hop tomorrow morning, or the Stamp Review Crew hop Monday morning. Not happy about that. 😟
