CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Sweet Summertime

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Sweet Summertime - what says summertime to you? When I think of summertime, I remember the feeling of freedom when I was a kid and school was out for three whole months, and days were filled with adventures, bike riding, roller skating, and trips to the beach which always included a stop at the ice cream shop!

My favorite flavors were mint chip, strawberry, and mocha almond fudge. It was always a race to see if I could finish it before it all melted. Unfortunately, I usually lost that race in the hot, humid Virginia summers. 😋

My card today features some sparkly ribbon called White 3/8" Glittered Organdy from the July-Dec Mini catalog that starts next month. You know I had to get it! And since that wasn't enough bling to suit me, I added some Artistry Blooms sequins and Clear Wink of Stella. *big grin*

That's my share for today. Click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Second Saturday Step Up

Here's the first of my monthly series Second Saturday Step Up! Today I'm using the Sweet Ice Cream photopolymer stamp set. Who loves Mint Chip Ice Cream? *Rises hand* THIS girl! Each card uses the same basic inks and materials, but I added more things as the cards got "stepped up." The first card is perfect for the beginning stamper who just has a few basic supplies of stamps, ink, cardstock and DSP. There is no need for the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine at this point....she can easily produce this card with just the supplies she has and a paper trimmer.

This second card is more of what a casual stamper would make. She's not a beginner, by any means, but she wants to produce a card fairly quickly and without too much fuss. The casual stamper usually has more supplies, such as embellishments and Stampin' Blends. She'll add more layers and perhaps pop things up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

On this card I fussy cut the greeting and added rhinestones colored with a Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blend marker. That little bit of bling kicks it up a notch!

The last card is definitely something that an avid stamper would make. She's the type of crafter who has to have almost everything in the catalog. *Looks away, whistling* So she can make almost anything she's inspired to make, and my I mean her motto is "More is better!"

For this card I dry embossed the white background, matted it on Early Espresso and onto the Mint Macaron card base. If you look closely, you can see I heat embossed the chocolate with clear embossing powder to make it look like a shiny, yummy chocolate coating, and then cut the ice cream out with a Stitched So Sweetly die (also matted on Early Espresso).

A Square Vellum Doily backs the ice cream, too. The 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon was colored with the same Stampin' Blends marker used on the rhinestones. Be sure to use the bullet tip of the marker on the rhinestones, and the side of the brush tip when coloring ribbon!
