CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Spooky Halloween

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is spoooooky Halloween, and in my book, there's not much spookier/creepier than spiders. I used to hate them, but now I tolerate them (outside only!) because they are good for the garden. But I DON'T tolerate their blood-sucking tick cousins. This is the time of year when the giant fat-bodied orb weavers spin their webs, and they truly are spectacular. But not when I face-plant into one at the top of the porch steps and nearly have a heart attack and break a hip! I've always named the orb weavers "Boris", with a nod to The Who. 😉

So, of course I had to make my spooky card spider-related! I used a Black Glitter Paper mat (4" x 5-1/4") and cut the spider web out of the center. On a piece of 3-3/4" x 5" Basic Black I adhered the DSP (2-7/8" x 5"). One more spider web was cut from a scrap of Basic Black and cut in half. Half was adhered (butted up against the DSP), and the other half was cut in half (making a quarter web) and glued to the upper left corner. Any excess was trimmed off.

I figured out the placement of the glitter web and made a little mark where the spider's thread should start, then stamped the spider. The glitter web was glued on and a Matte Black Dot was added to make the fat spider body (shudder). 😬 All that was left was to heat emboss the BOO from Time of Giving, cut it with an Ornate Frames die, and pop it up on dimensionals. Pretty cute for a creepy crawly, I guess.

That's my share for today. Libby has a family emergency this week, so click the Next button to jump over to Debbie Henderson at Debbie Henderson Designs, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!
