Grown With Love
Sorry for the delay in getting this posted....I have the perfect excuse! The garden has suddenly exploded in squash. I'm not kidding! Last week I was taking a colander out to harvest the pickling cucumbers, and maybe a zucchini or two. This week I think I need this wagon! I've been picking every day and I still can't seem to keep up! I guess the garden has been really feeling the love lately, LOL.
I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches this week; this is the sketch:
Had I known just how prolific the patty pan squash was going to be, I would have planted only one plant. There are three out there, and that's not counting the five zucchini plants and the three butternut squash that are trying to take over the entire garden.
Yes, there are other things also producing like crazy (need any green beans or jalapenos?), but it's the squash that is threatening to consume me! I'm still waiting impatiently for the tomatoes to get ripe. They're starting to get some color, but aren't ready yet. So, instead of making salsa with all those jalapenos, I'm making jalapeno poppers for the freezer.
Here is three days' worth of squash, which doesn't include the ones we ate (six patty pan, six zucchini) or dehydrated (eight zucchini).
You thought I was exaggerating, didn't you?
