CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Giving Thanks

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Thanksgiving and gratitude. Although I count my blessings year-round, this is the time of year I really appreciate my many blessings. A roof over my head, family and friends nearby, good health, and a new puppy that's a sweetheart of a handful.... *wink*

I wanted to keep it fairly simple today, so I chose the Love of Leaves stamp set and Stitched Leaves dies. A quarter sheet of Very Vanilla cardstock was embossed with the Timeworn Type folder, then die cut with a Stitched Rectangle die and the Stitched Leaves outline die.

I heat embossed (gold) the large leaf on another piece of Very Vanilla and trimmed it down to fit behind the die cut layer. The top layer was adhered with dimensionals to the heat embossed layer and then glued to the Soft Suede card base.

I'm so sad to see that the Heartfelt Wishes greeting set is going to retire! I love its large scripty font; it really makes a statement. The greeting was stamped on Very Vanilla with Soft Suede ink, matted on some more Soft Suede cardstock and popped up on dimensionals. (I'm happy to see the Brushed Metallic Dots are carrying over!)

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Fall Leaves

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Fall Leaves, and boy have they been falling here! I had the bright idea to use some real leaves and cut them with the Stitched Leaves Dies, but it didn't turn out quite like I had hoped. So on to Plan B - cardstock leaves!

The 3-3/4" x 5" embossed Pale Papaya background is popped up on dimensionals. The greeting was heat embossed on a 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Cajun Craze and adhered, then three 3/4" x 3-7/8" strips of DSP (Bumblebee, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze) were glued on top with the left sides even with the embossed background.

The leaves were die cut from Pale Papaya and colored with a Water Painter and ink. They were then over-painted with clear Wink of Stella for some shimmer and popped up on dimensionals. A few Bumblebee Matte Decorative Dots completed the card.

OKC Thunder Get Well

One of my stamping sisters recently broke her ankle, and it was severe enough that it required a hospital stay and surgery. Yikes! 😧

She's a big fan of the OKC Thunder basketball team, so I made her a card using the team colors of light blue, navy blue, yellow, and orange. That was a real challenge for me!

I figured the yellow and orange would be good using the Love of Leaves stamp set - autumn colors, dontcha know. 😉 But I wasn't too sure about the blues. After playing around with different combinations of elements, this is what I settle on. I think it worked, and she was appreciative! The greeting is from Healing Hugs.

Love of Leaves

I just found out something and need to share it! If you are a Stampin' Up! customer, whether with me or someone else, you need to make sure your account zip code has the Zip+4 in your address. Apparently some people are paying more sales tax than they should be, and the only way for Stampin' Up! to know the real tax rate is with the extra four digits. So make sure you update your zip code!

Today's card is another using the beautiful Stitched Leaves Dies. I had the stitched background and large leaf in my box of useful bits and threw this together in a jiffy!

This would make a great masculine birthday card, too. Or a Thank You, Happy Fall, or even Thanksgiving!

And I just realized something....I think the reason I love the color Cinnamon Cider so much is because it reminds me of the color of Christmas gingerbread. Mmmmmm!
