Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Part II (or is it III?)

Aaaaand here's the other card I promised. Told ya it was bright! I took the opportunity to try the new Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, and I'm impressed! First of all because it made adhering the greeting so easy - no messy glue blobs. But also because it seems like there were less "whiskers" around the finished die cut. I don't know about you, but those whiskers bug me, and I'm always trying to pull them off with tweezers. (No, I'm not referring to my chin, although those bug me, too!)

The adhesive sheets are 6" x 12" and there are twelve in a pack. I found I could cut the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die twice on a sheet that was 3-1/2" x 6". The Basic Black cardstock was cut the same size and adhered to the adhesive sheet by removing one side of the backing paper.

I ran the die through the Big Shot three times, forwards and backwards, moving it each time to a different area of the cutting pad to ensure a good cut. After cutting one greeting out, there was room for the other.

Helpful hint: Use the point of your Paper Snips to slide under the edge of the backing paper. It really helps to get it started, so you can carefully peel the rest off. So easy!!!

The Lemon Lime Twist Fresh Florals DSP stands out against the black, doesn't it?! Just that pop of color makes such a difference.

The Hooray balloon was stamped first with Basic Black ink, the the polka-dot balloon was stamped in Lemon Lime Twist. Add a baker's twine string, pop it up on dimensionals, and you're done!

Measurements
  DSP: 3-1/8" x 3-1/2"
  Basic Black mat: 3-1/4" x 3-5/8"
  Whisper White mat: 3-1/2" x 3-7/8"

My Motto!

As soon as I saw this Crafting Forever stamp set I knew I had to have it! You know what they say - crafting comes before housework in the dictionary, as it should! The dust bunnies aren't going to go anywhere, so might as well have some fun before you tackle them. Besides, it's a proven fact the crafting is good for your mental well-being! I read it on the Internet, so it must be true. *giggle*

Crafting Forever is available in both wood-mount and clear-mount options, and you know which one I chose....clear-mount! Costs less and leaves more room on the shelf for MORE STAMPS! Must. Have. ALL. The. Stamps!

So, to see a stamp set that embodies my motto was just the bees knees for me, and a "must have" item. I stamped it on watercolor paper and used an Aqua Painter to add Powder Pink, Sahara Sand, and Old Olive.

The copper wire-looking embellishment is four strands of the Copper Metallic Thread twisted together, looped behind the image and held in place with a Glue Dot.

I made this card for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #221, using this sketch:

Here's the "How To"
 Image: Watercolor Paper 3" x 4"
 Scalloped mat: Basic Black 3" x 4"
 Greeting strip: Sahara Sand 1-1/4" x 3-3/4"
 Mat: Basic Black 1-3/8" x 3-3/4"
 Background: Fresh Florals DSP 3-3/4" x 5"
 Mat: Basic Black 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
 Card base: Sahara Sand 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Adhere Fresh Florals DSP to Basic Black mat and the to card base.
  2. Stamp greeting with Basic Black Archival Ink on right side of greeting strip. Adhere to Basic Black mat and then to card, leaving 5/8" of the Fresh Floral DSP showing at bottom.
  3. Stamp image on Watercolor Paper (or Shimmery White, if desired) and add colors as mentioned above. Note: It's water coloring - you don't have to be precise and ultra detailed when adding the colors. If you look closely, I wasn't!
  4. Die cut the image with the largest oval in the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Die cut the mat with the largest scalloped oval in the Layering Ovals Framelits. Adhere image to mat.
  5. Make loops of Copper Metallic Thread and adhere to card with a glue dot.
  6. Attach image to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Saying Goodbye

One of the hardest things every year is saying "So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye" (name that movie) to the retiring stamp sets. Well that, and not getting so caught up in the exciting new things that we neglect to say a proper goodbye before they are gone. So, I dragged myself away from the box that the man in brown brought yesterday and focused on one of my favorites from the Occasions catalog, the Special Reason stamp set.

You may have noticed, I'm also saying goodbye to the Pop of Pink Specialty DSP, but also yelling HELLOOOO to the Lemon Lime Twist new In Color! I couldn't resist, because it looks so fabulous with the black & white!

Now if you've followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I'm not a fan of chevron prints. I just couldn't hop on the chevron bandwagon when it came by, because it's too "busy" for my taste. However, in small doses it can be quite lovely, as seen on this card!

PRODUCT NOTES: As of this post, the Pop of Pink Specialty DSP was still available at 40% off. The Stylish Stems Framelits are sold out. The Special Reason stamp sets (clear-mount and wood-mount) are guaranteed through May 22. The Lemon Lime Twist ink & cardstock, and Glitter Enamel Dots start June 1st, but the dots have been wildly popular with the demo preorder, and are back ordered already. (See? It pays to be a demo, so you can get your mitts on the goodies first! Ask me how.)
