Christmas Banner Candy Canes

The Sweet Candy Canes bundle needed to be used at least one more time, this time using Merry Merlot and Polished Pink, with a bit of Quatrefoil Tile embossed vellum over the pink to soften the color.

I used clear packing tape again on the candy canes to give them a shiny look. This is such a clever trick! No need to wait for Crystal Effects to dry, and run the risk of smearing it before it's completely set.

The greeting and banner are from the Christmas Banners bundle. There wasn't a greeting in Sweet Candy Canes to fit the banner, and I wanted to use that banner because it fit so nicely through the openings of the Designer Tags label. The gold and white evergreen sprigs were from a die in the Christmas Banners bundle as well.

The Festive Pearls are supposed to be Cherry Cobbler, but I think they coordinate with Polished Pink and Merry Merlot, too.

Sweet Candy Canes Again

This card turned out exactly the way I pictured it in my head! That rarely happens, LOL. I wanted to have a textured background behind the Merriest Frames, but none of my embossing folders looked right, so I pulled out the Simply Scored board and went to work making lines every 1/8" with the stylus. I love the subtle corrugated look! Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting the lighting right when I was taking the pics, so you can't really see it.

I learned a trick from my upline's Facebook group. You can use clear packing tape over your stamped image before die cutting to make it shiny (similar to Crystal Effects), so I made the candy canes shiny, like they would be in real life!

Anyhoo, here it is - the masterpiece I imagined a few days ago. 😁

Sweet Candy Canes

As promised yesterday, here is the card I was working on, but didn't finish in time for yesterday's hop. I really love the way this turned out! It's more of the traditional red and green, with a little Pool Party thrown in. This card uses the Sweetest Christmas DSP that I didn't use yesterday - three patterns, in fact!

The candy canes are on one of the sheets of patterned paper and, very conveniently, can be cut with the Candy Canes Dies. Behind the candy canes is a sheet of angled stripe DSP with a piece of Wintry 3D embossed vellum overlaying it to soften the colors. Both layers were cut with a stitched rectangle die.

And behind that is another pattern (in Sweet Sorbet) from the DSP, matted on white before popping up on the card base with dimensionals. I'm really trying hard to not hoard the pretty papers, honest I am!

The mistletoe sprigs were stamped in Garden Green and cut with the matching dies. I added pearls for the mistletoe berries. And, like yesterday's Merry & Bright card, I used some Simply Elegant Trim to add a little shine. I like bows, can you tell? 😁🎀

Ohhh, I just had an idea for another card using this set! Check back on Thursday to see if I can make what I'm envisioning a reality. Fingers crossed!

Tutorial Tuesday - Whimsical Trees

Happy Tuesday (and short work week to all you workers)! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and, if you're into that sort of thing, snag some great Black Friday bargains! I hate crowds, so I'll be doing my shopping from the comfort of my living room, LOL. 😁

Supplies:
•    Stamp Sets: Whimsical Trees (156330)
•    Cardstock: Basic White (159276), Mossy Meadow (133676), Pear Pizzazz (131201)
•    Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (132708) and Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs Mossy Meadow (154890), Cherry Cobbler (154880)
•    Tools & Accessories: Christmas Trees Dies (156339), Hippo & Friends Dies (153585), Seasonal Labels Dies (156299), Glittered Organdy Ribbon (156408)
•    Designer Paper: Whimsy & Wonder Specialty (156329)

Measurements:
•    Card Base: Basic White 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
•    Cardstock #2: Pear Pizzazz 3-1/4" x 4-1/2"
•    Cardstock #3: Mossy Meadow 3-3/4" x 5"
•    Cardstock #4: Scraps of Basic White for ornaments, holly, & greeting
•    Designer Paper: 3-1/2" x 4-3/4"

Instructions:
•    Adhere Pear Pizzazz to Mossy Meadow cardstock, then both to card base.
•    Stamp, color, and die cut ornaments and holly using Christmas Trees Dies.
•    Stamp and die cut greeting using Seasonal Labels Dies.
•    Die cut center of DSP using the 2" x 3" octagonal label from Hippo & Friends Dies.
•    Adhere ornament “strings” to DSP with liquid glue, then add Stampin’ Dimensionals around all edges and behind ornaments. Adhere to card base.
•    Affix holly to DSP with dimensionals.
•    Add ribbon at lower right (glue dots work well).
•    Adhere greeting over ribbon with dimensionals.

Celebration Tidings Christmas

Since the Celebration Tidings stamp set is still on my desk, I decided to make a couple more cards with it before putting it away. This one is celebrating Christmas, and it pairs beautifully with the Plaid Tidings DSP. (I think I'm seeing a "Tidings" theme here.) 😉

The greenery was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink, then colored with the Light Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends marker and fussy cut. Merry Christmas was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, die cut with the Celebration Labels Dies and embossed with the Tasteful Textures 3D embossing folder before popping it up on dimensionals.

A few gold sprigs were added (sprigs are part of the die set) and a Real Red Sheer Ribbon bow. To balance the card, the beautiful Wonderful Gems were adhered on the lower right. I thought this would be a good card for sending this year, but the thought of fussy cutting that greenery a hundred times made me change my mind.
