My father, the Old Salt, passed away yesterday. We knew it was coming, but other than having the chance to say goodbye, it didn't make it any easier. Ultimately, it wasn't the cancer that got him, but rather the repeated infections due to his chemotherapy-compromised immune system. With each infection he got weaker, and didn't bounce back as quickly. This last one was it.
DAD WITH HIS CAT, LILY. HE WAS SO ALLERGIC TO HER, BUT HE LOVED HER (AND SHE ADORED HIM)!
I take comfort in knowing he's not in pain anymore, and that he is now with his beloved wife Bette, who lost her battle with cancer eight years ago.
Daddy, I miss you so much. You left a big empty place that no one can fill.
I am so sorry for your loss. It's hard no matter how it happens. Both my parents are gone & I miss them every day.
ReplyDeleteCindy - I'm so sorry about your father! Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. A darn infection (comprimised immune system as a result of chemo) took my daddy as well. I love the picture of your dad with his kitty - there is a whole lot of love there. You are in my prayers.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your loss. May all the wonderful memories provide some comfort during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I know exactly how you feel. When my Dad passed (2003) I was heart broken He was gone but happy He was no longer in merciless pain. The ones that go are in a better place than the ones left behind. And of course we don't want them to go but we have to let them in the end. Take care and soon the memories will just be the good ones.
ReplyDeleteCindy, What a wonderful tribute to your dad! Our prayers are with you and I'm glad he is no longer in pain.

My sincere sympathies to you on the loss of your father. I loved seeing the pictures of your dad with his cat and the stories of your stamping lessons with him. My sister introduced me to stamping and I miss her every day since her death nearly five years ago. Your posts touched my heart. I wish you many blessings.
