Winter Woods

Heart's Delight Cards, Winter Woods, In the Woods Framelits, Christmas Card, Stampin' Up!

There's an old folklore that the number of days of fog in August equals the number of days of snow in winter. So far, we've had nine out of eleven days that started out foggy. Hmmmm... maybe this winter we'll get some real snow! Last winter we had a few dustings, but nothing really more than an inch or two. Not enough to cover everything in a pristine blanket of white, like this card!

This was one of the cards we made in the stamp club last week. It is really a quick and easy card, if you're looking for something that you could make in multiples.

The greeting is from the Blended Seasons stamp set, part of this month's special promotion. The die cut trees and snowy hill are from the In The Woods Framelits dies that will be available starting September 5th. And the falling snow is just dots from my handy dandy poster paint Sharpie. I'm tellin' ya, this is the best, most opaque white I have ever used. I've tried others, like the Signo gel pen (which dries up after a couple uses), and the SU Chalk Marker (which is too translucent - can't get good coverage), and this beats them all.

The greeting was stamped in Night of Navy at the bottom center piece of Whisper White (1-3/4" x 5-1/2"), then cut with the curved die. Note: The die doesn't cut all the way to the edges on a 5-1/2" strip, so use your snips to complete the cut. Snow flakes were dotted onto the Night of Navy card base, then the greeting panel was adhered.

The trees all fit on a quarter sheet of cardstock, and BONUS - there are two of the naked branch tree dies, so you can cut everything with one pass through Mr. Big! You'll cut both pine trees (plain and with boughs) and the two branched trees. Adhere one branched tree on the right side with liquid glue, then trim 1/2"off the trunk of the second tree and adhere it flush with the snow, overlapping the first tree. Curl the pine boughs up a bit and glue that piece to the tree base, and then to the card. Add the pearls and you're done!

  1. I love your card. Also, thanks for the tip about the Sharpie poster white pen. I just ordered three from Amazon. May I "CASE" your card for my next workshop? Of course, I will give you credit for the design.
