Stamp Review Crew - Rooted in Nature

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2018/08/rooted-in-nature.html

Welcome to the Rooted in Nature edition of the Stamp Review Crew! The super talented Heidi was the first stop, and I'm number two. There are sixteen of us this time, and we're welcoming a new Crew member, Mary Haugen. What is the Stamp Review Crew? We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who hope to inspire you by picking one stamp set (or bundle) and showing many ways to use it!

As soon as I saw the Rooted in Nature bundle, which is available in wood or clear mount, I knew I had to have it! I love trees and leaves - they're so....nature-y! And this tree reminds me of the huge old ash tree we had to cut down last year because it succumbed to the emerald ash borer. That tree was probably 150 years old, I'm guessing, and I was so sad to see it go.

Anyhoo, one of the things I really liked about the Nature's Roots Framelits are the dies that just make impressions in the cardstock. They kind of remind me of fossils, and I used them on Watercolor Paper here because it's nice and thick, and leaves a deep impression. (Heh heh, see what I did there?)

Did you notice the copper spatters? I made my own shimmer spray with the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint that will be in the Holiday catalog starting next month! It's easy to do - just fill a Stampin' Spritzer about 3/4 full of rubbing alcohol, then add the shimmer paint and shake well. Instead of spritzing, I took the sprayer with the attached tube out and tapped it to make spatters.

After inking up the tree with Early espresso, I used a sponge dauber to pick up a little of the shimmer paint and dabbed it around the edges the stamp before stamping on Very Vanilla. Look at what a beautiful sheen it has! (You can click the photo to zoom in.)

No card is compete without decorating the envelope in some way, right? Instead of stamping the tree image on the envelope, I thought I'd make the flap match the impressed card background. Nothing like a little taste of what is to come!

Well, that's my project for today. Up next is the always awesome Bronwyn Eastley!
