CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Getting Sketchy

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Hop theme is to choose a sketch, and then show it and the card we made with it! I love using sketches; they're like a roadmap to a completed card. Just choose the colors, image, and DSP (if any) and boom, a finished project!

Of course, when following a sketch, you don't have to use the exact shapes. You can even change the orientation from portrait to landscape if you want. It's more of a starting point and "use your imagination" layout.

Today I'm using the newly released Online Exclusives Simply Zinnia bundle. I simply love zinnias, so you're probably going to get tired of seeing them here, lol! The circles were cut using Everyday Details dies. Then the flower was stamped in Melon Mambo ink and colored with Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight Blends.

Leaves were stamped with Mossy Meadow on Old Olive cardstock and die cut, along with the Old Olive stem. I wanted this to be a birthday card, and neither Simply Zinnia or Everyday Details had a birthday greeting, so I swiped one from Cheerful Daisies. I'm sure the daisies didn't mind. 😉

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Z Folds

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Hop theme is fun Z Folds! I haven't made a fun fold in a while, so this was just the kick in the pants I needed. I made it a double Z Fold so I had room for the little extras.

The Moody Mauve card base is 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2", and the narrower Moody Mauve strip is 1 1/2" x 11", scored the same as the base. I embossed the narrow strip with one of the Fun Patterns embossing folders (available next week!) to kind of mimic the DSP pattern.

The card uses two pieces of DSP 2 1/2" x 4" and two pieces of white cardstock the same size. After adhering the DSP and cardstock, I cut white cardstock with the second largest label die and adhered it to the front. Then the embossed strip was adhered near the bottom and the images were stamped, colored, die cut and adhered.

The greeting was stamped and cut with the smallest label die and I added some die cut Pecan Pie leaves and In Color dots to complete the card.

Thursday Challenge - CCMC807

Spring is in the air - I'm feeling it! Even though I know winter will try to take another shot or two at us, I'm ready for new growth, flowers, planting my garden (not, yet, but I'm planning!) and warmer weather. With that in mind, I made a Spring-y card for this week's Thursday sketch challenge.

Today is the last day of Sale-A-Bration, and the Delightfully Eclectic 12 x 12 (48 sheets!) DSP used on this card is one of the items you can get with a $50 purchase. Yes, it is available in the annual catalog, but after SAB, it's going to cost you $30. Wouldn't you rather get it for free?

A 1/4" strip of Distressed Gold joins the DSP and Garden Green (on which I stamped the splatters with VersaMark). For the flower bouquet I pulled out a bundle I haven't used in a while - Quiet Meadow. After die cutting the flower sprigs from watercolor paper, I used a water painter and Melon Mambo, Bubble Bath, and Garden Green to add the color.

The white scalloped die cut (from Thoughtful Expressions) was embossed with the Basics 3D folder and adhered to the card, with the flowers and greeting popped up. A Bubble Bath Sheer Ribbon bow ties the bouquet together.
