Thursday Challenge - CCMC807

Spring is in the air - I'm feeling it! Even though I know winter will try to take another shot or two at us, I'm ready for new growth, flowers, planting my garden (not, yet, but I'm planning!) and warmer weather. With that in mind, I made a Spring-y card for this week's Thursday sketch challenge.

Today is the last day of Sale-A-Bration, and the Delightfully Eclectic 12 x 12 (48 sheets!) DSP used on this card is one of the items you can get with a $50 purchase. Yes, it is available in the annual catalog, but after SAB, it's going to cost you $30. Wouldn't you rather get it for free?

A 1/4" strip of Distressed Gold joins the DSP and Garden Green (on which I stamped the splatters with VersaMark). For the flower bouquet I pulled out a bundle I haven't used in a while - Quiet Meadow. After die cutting the flower sprigs from watercolor paper, I used a water painter and Melon Mambo, Bubble Bath, and Garden Green to add the color.

The white scalloped die cut (from Thoughtful Expressions) was embossed with the Basics 3D folder and adhered to the card, with the flowers and greeting popped up. A Bubble Bath Sheer Ribbon bow ties the bouquet together.

The Stamp Review Crew - Barn Door

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2018/12/barn-door.html

The Stamp Review Crew is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who hope to inspire creativity by focusing on a single stamp set each month. It's fun to see how many different looks you can get from each set! If you are hopping from the beginning, you just landed here from Tanya's blog, Tinkerin In Ink with Tanya. I love all her creations!

The Crew's spotlight this time is on Barn Door, an eight piece red rubber set available in clear- or wood-mount. The Sliding Door Framelits Dies coordinate with it, and give you the means to build a real sliding door card, if you are inclined!

Since I still need a couple more Christmas cards, and they have to go out NOW if they are to arrive in time, I made this one holiday-themed. After stamping the wreath around the edge of the Crumb Cake card base with VersaMark ink, I thought buffalo check would make a perfect rustic background for the barn door. It was stamped in black on Shaded Spruce, and the edges were distressed. The door was stamped on Wood Textures DSP and shading was added with Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.

The wreath was stamped in Shaded Spruce, and then stamped again (after cleaning the stamp, of course!) in Poppy Parade so the flowers could be die cut. I did cheat a little more with the greeting and used Merry Christmas to All, since Barn Door didn't have a holiday greeting.

For my next card, I suddenly felt like Spring! I know we aren't even officially into Winter yet, but since the Occasions catalog preorder arrived here last week, with all its Spring-y goodness, I've had that on my mind. Besides, I'm about Christmas-carded out now!

Heart's Delight Cards, Barn Door, SRC - Barn Door, Stamp Review Crew, Spring, Hello, Wreaths, Stampin' Up!

On this CAS card I used the other wreath in the Barn Door set, coloring it with Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Write Markers, then huffing on it and stamping on Whisper White. The 'hello' was colored with the Black Stampin' Write Marker, leaving out the frame.

I added a 1/2" strip of All My Love DSP (coming January 3rd!) behind the wreath and greeting adhered over a Subtle Dynamic embossed background. It's so sweet, I didn't think it needed any embellishments!

Up next is Dawn, over at Tiddbits From Dawn. I love her style, too! (And frequently find myself saying, "Why didn't I think of that?!")

Circle of Spring

I felt like making a Spring-y card today because the daffodils have been blooming for three weeks, the forsythias for almost as long, and our peach trees for about a week. So you'd think Spring has sprung, right?

"Not so fast!" screamed Mother Nature (who, I suspect, is PMSing). We're supposed to get 2-5 inches of snow this weekend, and the night time temps are predicted to be in the high teens to low 20s for about a week. So the Winter that wasn't is finally going to arrive?! Sheesh.

If you need me, I'll be hunkered down in my craft cave, looking out at the snowy wonderland, and studiously avoiding doing my taxes. Hey, I still have over a month to do 'em, right?
