Balloon Adventures - Occasions 2017 Sneak Peek!

I just got back from a Stampin' Up! demonstrator-only event in Atlanta. We got to preview (and pre-order, woohoo!) items from the Occasions 2017 catalog and the upcoming Sale-A-Bration freebies! I had to wait until this minute to share this with you because of the non-spoiler policy we all agreed to.

Okay, so the card is cute and shows a couple of the stamps in the Balloon Adventures stamp set, along with some of the Party Animal DSP (all part of the Party Animal Suite), but lookie what's inside - the most adorable little pop-up balloons and banner! Isn't this just the cutest thing?!

Now don't look too closely at the card, because we were in a rush to get our projects done, so my stamping isn't straight and I realized after the fact that I should have stamped the balloons before I folded the insert. So there's my tip for you - stamp straight before folding! LOL

Anyhoo, in addition to the Party Animal DSP, Balloon Adventures stamp set, and coordinating 8 piece Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits dies (which I can show you when it they get here Wednesday), there's Washi tape, 1/8" Emerald Envy ribbon, and a 16 piece metal charm set. You get 8 each of the Pacific Point party hat and Tangerine Tango balloon, and they are flat enough that they shouldn't pose a problem when mailing. The hat measures 1/2" x 7/8" and the balloon/string 3/8" x 1-3/16". I'll have more sneak peeks later!

Reason for the Season

Quick post today. I'm on my way home from Atlanta and my head is positively swimming with all the information, ideas, and NEW PRODUCTS that are coming! As an attendee at OnStage, I got to pre-preorder some new products which will be arriving at my doorstep in a few days, so be on the lookout for some sneaky peeks in the near future!

Meanwhile, here's a card that I made while playing around with some Tim Holtz dies. I really thought the die-cut evergreens in the Woodlands die set looked so sleek and modern. I wanted to see if I could do a sort of minimalist card, using the tree and the negative of the cut out tree. What do you think? Should I have left off the sequins? I have a hard time doing CAS - I always think "This needs something."

I cut the tree in Whisper White and Emerald Envy, and offset it a bit, so just a little of the green is showing. Now that the card is finished, I think I should have used Dapper Denim, as was used for the mat. Oh well, live and learn, right? And this was really just playing around with new toys.

Cutie Patootie Snowmen!

Here's an idea I've seen all over on Pinterest. These adorable snowmen are made from three Hershey's Nuggets and are the perfect little gift for coworkers, or for stocking stuffers! I made a bunch of these for my school teacher daughter to give to her colleagues, as well as some for my stamping friends, and to share with some special people at OnStage today.

They really aren't difficult to make. The three white paper strips are 1-1/8" x 3" and you stamp the face from the snowman in the middle of one strip first. Use a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to ink just the face part of the snowman. It's easy to see where you will stamp since it's a photopolymer set. Color the nose (Peekaboo Peach used here) and wrap firmly around the nugget. I used Tear & Tape to secure the end.

Stamp the hat in Basic Black, the scarf in Cherry Cobbler, apply ink to the holly berry cluster with Cucumber Crush and Cherry Cobbler markers and stamp. Cut out with coordinating dies and adhere with liquid glue.

Wrap the other two nuggets the same way and glue the black buttons (1/4" circle punch) with liquid glue.

The tray they rest in is a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock 1-3/4" x 4", scored at 3/8" on both long sides. Fold up the sides, put the nuggets in, slide in a pretzel bag, and tie with baker's twine.
