Inspiration struck again as I was going to sleep last night and, after some trial and error, it actually turned out like I had imagined.....for the most part. This ended up being another "embellishment opportunity", as you will see in the instructions. I had originally planned for the popped-up balloon to be a little higher with more of a margin on the right. But I think this actually looks better!
Here's the "How To"
Greeting: Whisper White 2" x 5-1/2"
Mat: Crushed Curry (2 pieces) 1/2" x 5-1/2"
Balloon: Pacific Point and Gold Glimmer, both 2" x 2-1/4"
Crushed Curry scraps for bow & string
Card base: Whisper White 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
- Using Celebrations Duo folder, emboss the word "celebrate" on Whisper White strip. Make sure strip is inserted all the way to the hinge of the folder - it will make the word off center; that's good! Carefully stamp balloons with Pacific Point ink onto strip. Press hard
enough to make the ink transfer, but not so hard that it's getting into
the embossed word. It may take a few tries. I started with Shimmery
White (shown) and couldn't get good ink transfer, so I switched to WW
and used the Stampin' Pierce Mat - worked like a charm! That, and
re-inking the almost dry pad, lol.
- Attach Crushed Curry strips behind, leaving 1/8" showing. (Here you will see the "opportunity" I was referring to. After two tries, I wasn't about the ditch the third one, so that ink smudge on the upper right will be covered.)
- Stamp the streamers/confetti in Crushed Curry randomly over card front. Adhere the greeting, leaving 1/4" margin at bottom.
- Punch larger balloon from glimmer paper with Balloon Bouquet punch. Die cut Pacific Point cardstock with polka-dot balloon die from Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits. Adhere to glimmer paper with little dots of liquid glue. Hint: After gluing them together, set a weight (an acrylic block works well) on top until glue is set.
- Die cut bow and string from Crushed Curry scraps. Adhere string to back of balloon, and add dimensionals as shown. Adhere to card front and glue bow on with liquid glue.
