Add a Little Glitz in Gold

The Add a Little Glitz stamp set (wood- or clear-mount) has five fun images and two greetings. For this quick card, I used two of the images and heat embossed them in gold.

The strip of stars was stamped three times in VersaMark on 3/8" x 5-1/8" Very Vanilla, lining them up end to end. It wasn't difficult since I use clear mount stamps. I just made a dot with a Sharpie in the foam backing where the image ended on each side. That way I could tell approximately where to stamp so they looked like one continuous image.

The gold looks so rich and elegant on the Very Vanilla cardstock. That gold foil snowflake makes a great border around the image too, don't you think? After stamping and heat embossing the tree, it was die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits circle and adhered to the snowflake, then popped up on dimensionals over the stars. The greeting (from Hearts Come Home) was also heat embossed in gold.

Add a Little Glitz with Snowflakes! (Sneak Peek)

Well, you KNOW I just HAD to get every snowflake-related item in the new Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog, didn't you? If it sparkles, or if it's shiny, or if it's snowflakes or snowmen, you can bet it will end up in my craft room!

And ESPECIALLY if it's snowy-somethings that can be used with Mr. Big! So the Winter Wonder embossing folder was a no-brainer, as was the snowflake die in the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies. And they happened to coordinate beautifully with the snowflakes in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, too!

You just really can't go wrong with snowflakes, and the silver sparkly ones paired beautifully with the greeting in Add a Little Glitz!

Here is a helpful hint for the Winter Wonder embossing folder: I was having trouble with wrinkles in the regular Whisper White cardstock after running it through the Big Shot. I tried a quarter sheet of Whisper White Thick cardstock and lightly spritzed the back of it with water, then blotted it with a paper towel. While it was still damp, I embossed it, and then let it dry before trimming it down for the card front. It worked perfectly; no wrinkles at all!
