The Stamp Review Crew - Beautiful Day

Welcome to 2020, and the very first Stamp Review Crew hop of the new year! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. I'm the first stop on the hop this time, but if you landed here from Stesha's blog, Stampin' Hoot, welcome! Just follow the links on each stop to take the tour.

Today we are featuring an annual catalog favorite called Beautiful Day. It's a sweet five piece cling stamp set with a couple of nice sentiments, and lends itself beautifully to coloring with whatever medium you prefer.

Since I'm coming up on the month of many birthdays, I decided to use the birthday greeting that is included in the set and made two cards with the same layout, but different images, colors, and coloring techniques.

First up is the beautiful butterfly birthday. I just love this color combination! This one started with a watercolor wash (Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Crushed Curry) on watercolor paper over which the butterfly was stamped when it had thoroughly dried. I think one of the best features of this set is the bold images are very easy to fussy cut which is what I did here.

The butterfly's antennae were cut off on purpose, because there was no way I was going to fussy cut around them! I used the new Mini Paper Cutter that is part of the Sale-A-Bration sign up bonus to trim a verrry thin slice off of Basic Black cardstock so I could add them back before the butterfly was adhered to the card.

The Pool Party background was embossed with the Parisian Fourish 3D folder, then matted on Basic Black to make it pop. Some Clear Wink of Stella was brushed over the butterfly's wings before it was added to the card with dimensionals.

The next card was stamped on Whisper White with Memento ink because it was to be colored with Stampin' Blends. Light and dark Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Blends, along with dark Mango Melody were used to color the bloom. A couple extra leaves were added for balance.

The Purple Posy background was embossed with the Coastal Weave 3D folder and matted on Gorgeous Grape. I also used the Wink of Stella on the flower to give it a little glimmer. Neither of these cards has an embellishment, can you believe it?!

Now, if you aren't one for fussy coloring and fussy cutting, check back tomorrow for a quick card that is beautiful without all the fussiness!
