The Stamp Review Crew - Swirly Frames

Welcome to the fifth Monday of the month (and last Monday of the decade!)... and another Stamp Review Crew bonus hop! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. I'm the first stop on the hop this time, but if you landed here from Mary's blog, Center Stage Stamping, welcome! Just follow the links on each stop to take the tour.

Today we are featuring Swirly Frames, which is the perfect way to accent an image by producing a frame around it. I'll admit, I was on the fence about getting this set because I wasn't sure how I would use it. Well, the more I played with it, the more ideas kept popping in my head. Because it is more of an accent piece, it pairs well with just about any other stamp set!

The first idea I had was to make a shaker card using the large swirly circle as a frame around the shaker window. I really wanted to let DSP play a big role on this card, so I chose the fabulous Best Dressed DSP (coming Jan. 3). After adhering the floral DSP to the card front, I used a different pattern for the part to be popped up. The swirly circle was heat embossed in Copper, then the window was die cut.

The shaker confetti is a mix of Peaceful Poppies Sequins (available Jan. 3), and the current Snowflake Sequins. Yes, I picked through with tweezers to get the colors I wanted! A Copper Foil die cut "Cheers" was added to complete the card. NOTE: The Snowflake Sequins are available while supplies last until Jan. 2nd. After that, you won't see them again until next year's holiday catalog.

My next card uses the smaller swirly circle. I originally was going to use small stamped images inside the circle, but then got the idea to make them overlapping with the Stamparatus using the Hinge Step technique and then color them in.

Since I wanted to make this one a birthday card, I went with BOLD colors, the greeting and confetti from So Sentimental (another one coming in a few days!), and banner die cuts from Bonanza Dies (part of yet another new bundle)!

That's all I have for today, but check back in a few days for another card using Swirly Frames and another Mini Catalog sneak peek! Up next is Jay, at Mitosu Crafts. I'm always astonished at his unique artistry. He totally knocks my socks off!
