It's the first Monday of the month and that means another wonderful hop from the Stamp Review Crew! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Bronwyn's's blog, AddINKtive Designs, welcome!
This time we are featuring the cute hot air balloon set called Above the Clouds. It has a coordinating Hot Air Balloon Punch for quick cardmaking!
My first card is a fairly quick CAS card. It only took a few minutes to apply the ink to the stamp with sponge daubers. (I think sponge daubers give you much more even coverage on this, and the DistINKtive type of stamp.)
After inking and punching out the balloons, two of them were glued down, and the third one was popped up on dimensionals. The clouds, birds, and greeting were all stamped right on the card base.
There isn't a punch or die for the banners, but it was simple to fussy cut since it was mostly straight edges. Easy peasy!
For the second card, I wanted to go with a monochromatic theme, and Pretty Peacock is my current favorite color, so....
I started by cutting the window frame with Rectangle Stitched Dies so I knew where to position the small balloons. They were stamped in Pretty Peacock ink, and colored with the Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends combo pack. (I messed up on one and colored the basket, too. Oops!)
The large balloon was stamped, then the filler stamp was inked using a sponge dauber to apply the ink more heavily at the bottom, and fading toward the top. The basket was punched from Pretty Peacock cardstock. A banner, a strip of gingham DSP, and some faceted gems finished it off.
Next stop on the hop is Charlet over at Painted Orange!
