Welcome to another edition of the Stamp Review Crew! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. This time we are focusing on the very masculine Geared Up Garage stamp set, which is also available as a bundle with the Garage Gears Thinlits Dies. There's a whole suite of products for making those somewhat challenging (for me, anyway) GUY cards! I have two cards to share, so I'll start with the CAS one.....I love the *subtle* details! I think this one will go to my son-in-law who turns the big Four Oh later this year.
The Mustang was stamped in Memento black ink, then colored with the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blends marker. After die cutting it, the car was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals above the greeting.
Don't the Classic Garage Metal Elements add a great finishing touch? There are 16 pieces - 8 car keys and 8 crescent wrenches. I went with the key here. Who wouldn't want the keys to a classic blue Mustang?! Well, maybe me. I was always a Chevy girl....I even had a red '67 Camaro. That car was HOT! No, I mean really; it didn't have air conditioning, and the heat from the engine came through the fire wall and was HOT.
My next card features the die cut gears and Mustang again, but this time it's a screaming red one! On a Smoky Slate card base I stamped the grease spots and nuts with Smoky Slate ink, then adhere the larger set of Silver Foil gears and a couple of the smaller single ones, as well.
The oval background was cut from Classic Garage DSP and adhered to the card base. After coloring and die cutting the car, it was popped up on dimensionals. I had a spare gear, so it was glued on the oval, adding more layers and dimensions.
The Father's Day greeting was colored marker-to-stamp with Real Red and Basic Black Stampin' Write Markers. (NEVER use the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers on your stamps!) Even though I could have cut it out with the coordinating die, I wanted to use that die to cut a Real Red mat, so I fussy-cut the greeting and glued it to the mat.
