Botanical Prints Friendship

Heart's Delight Cards, Botanical Prints, Bee, Friend, 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up!

I wasn't going to get the Botanical Prints Product Medley (pg. 61 Jan-Jun Mini) but the bees....the BEES just got me. Those little copper bee embellishments are the bee's knees! Bees are very trendy right now, but I've BEEn a big fan of the pollinators for a long time.

Sooo,I had to make a card for a friend who is a bee keeper, naturally. Since the bee embellishments are copper, I couldn't use the lovely black & gold Golden Honey Specialty DSP (which is sold out now, BTW).

Heart's Delight Cards, Botanical Prints, Bee, Friend, 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up!

I grabbed some of the black & white DSP that came in the product medley and added a strip of copper and a few copper leaves. Did you notice that BEEyoutiful ornate frame? Of course you did. That is a sneak peek at one of the Ornate Layers Dies coming in the new annual catalog in June. It's part of the Ornate Garden Suite and it will be available April 1st for an Early Release to Stampin' Up! customers. More on that later!

The Stamp Review Crew - Honey Bee

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2020/02/HB.html

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Honey Bee edition! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Charlet's blog, Painted Orange, welcome! There are seven of us today, so follow the links for more inspiration.

I think Honey Bee is the sweetest stamp set (pun intended) in the Jan-Jun Mini Catalog! The images are wonderful, and with the coordinating Detailed Bee Dies the creative possibilities are nearly endless.

The idea to make a Honey Bee shaker card came to me as I was going to sleep last week and, miraculously, I remembered it when I awoke! Instead of the more traditional yellow and black, I thought using Highland Heather would make for a nice Spring-y card. I'm ready for warmer weather, how about you?

The hive was cut in the card front first, then the opening was used as a template for stamping the hive image. The gold foil honeycomb is sandwiched between the card front and the window sheet so the sequins won't get caught. (Speaking of sequins, I used tweezers to pick the coordinating colors out of the Woven Threads Sequin Assortment and the Peaceful Poppies Sequins. Talk about nit-picking!)

Those cute little bees were die cut from the Golden Honey Specialty DSP, with some Daffodil Delight added to their bums and Clear Wink of Stella to their wings. I wish you could see the subtle shimmer!

For the next card I used the large die cut bee from the DSP and also added WOS to the wings. After watercolor washing the background and letting it thoroughly dry, the daisy image (Daisy Lane) was stamped and colored with an Aqua Painter.

The Balmy Blue embossed background was adhered to the card base, and a strip of striped DSP was added to the black matted image, then fastened to the card.

The bee was popped up on a dimensional, and some Balmy Blue Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins were added for more sparkle.

That is my share for today. I hope you got some ideas for your own projects! Up next is Holly, the Rubber Redneck. Can't wait to see what she made!

Painted Poppies Birthday

Heart's Delight Cards, Painted Poppies, Birthday Card, 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up!

It's no surprise that Painted Poppies is one of the most popular stamp sets in the latest mini catalog. Not only are the line images gorgeous (and great for coloring), but the filler stamps make it simple to add color if you want a quick card!

Heart's Delight Cards, Painted Poppies, Birthday Card, 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up!

I felt like using a different color palette on this card, something other than Poppy Parade. I started by stamping the main blossom, and then masking it and stamping the others so they looked like they were peeking out from behind.

Heart's Delight Cards, Painted Poppies, Birthday Card, 2020 Jan-June Mini Catalog, Stampin' Up!

I left the first mask in place and added another over the upper blossom so I could stamp the leaves. Although I did use the filler stamps on the blossoms, the leaves were colored with Stampin' Blends.

Sorry, I forgot to note the measurements before I sent it off!
