This card was made in celebration of our daughter moving into her new apartment, and into a new chapter in her life. It went with the KitchenAid stand mixer we gave her for a house-warming present.
To be perfectly honest, I kind of had an ulterior motive in giving that gift. Shawn makes the best bagels, and has always had to knead them by hand. I'm hoping the mixer will take some of the work out of them, and I'll be the lucky recipient of fresh bagels in the near future.
Tonight is the Summer Mini workshop, where I will be demonstrating some of the new products in the Summer Mini Catalog. The Presto Patterns DSP is so cool! It's white on white, with a pattern on it that looks heat embossed. I love how this particular sheet (1 of 6 patterns, 12 sheets total) coordinates perfectly with the new Elements of Style stamp set. I was inspired to try THIS technique, as seen on Patty Bennett's blog. You can brayer it, sponge it, use ink and Aqua Painters, or Smooch Spritz to make the pattern pop out!

I have a wonderful crew member working for the Census with me. She's my best worker! She and her husband have a landscape business, so the flexible hours of Census are a blessing. On Monday (which happened to be her husband's birthday), he was bitten by a baby rattlesnake right through his glove! He's going to be okay, thank God, but they kept him over night for observation after giving the antivenin and antibiotics. I whipped this together quickly to give to him when he got home. Inside it says "For a speedy recovery."
