Background Bits Simple Thanks

While at the monthly stamping get together with my downline this week, I got to borrow her Background Bits host set again. I had used it once before on my anniversary card, but wanted to make a simple Thank You card this time.

After I got home and started putting things together, I decided to add some quick sponged color to make the image pop. And then of course, I had to add an embellishment because, well....shiny!

This is a VERY simple card to put together. If you are in need of a bunch of thank you cards to have on hand, this is the one for you!

Here's the "How To"
 Image: Shimmery White 2-1/8" x 2-3/8"
 Mat: Basic Black 2-1/4" x 2-1/2"
 Card base: Shimmery White 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Using Basic Black Archival ink, stamp floral image on image panel and set aside to dry. Stamp border and greeting on card base.
  2. Sponge So Saffron and Calypso Coral over image when dry, then adhere to black mat.
  3. Wrap ribbon around and tie a square knot, trimming ends at an angle.
  4. Adhere image to card with dimensionals.

So Shelli Challenge

Shelli Gardner, co-founder and head honcho... uh, honcha... um, fearless leader of Stampin' Up! has a blog, called So Shelli, and a monthly challenge.  This month she has challenged us to use a color combination from the fabulous new Color Coach.  She said, and I quote: "Branch out of your usual color comfort zone and try a new combination."  Holy carp, did I push out of my comfort zone with this card!  And, wonder of wonders, I really like it!!!  (Hmmm, methinks I need to use the Color Coach more often, lol.)

I knew I wanted to use the deep gold of More Mustard for the sponged sky around the masked sun, so I was curious to see what other colors the "Coach" recommended.  I never would have thought of Cajun Craze and Night of Navy, but once I pulled out the cardstock and held them together, they just clicked!

Happy Birthday from BFF

I just had to share the gorgeous birthday card my BFF sent me! This is the woman who is directly responsible for my addiction to papercrafting, LOL. We have been bestest friends since we met in junior high school forty-two 22 years ago. ;-)

Barb obviously has mastered the ribbon blossom, which I still struggle with, but I'm determined to "get" it someday! Isn't this just beautiful? My photo doesn't do it justice, trust me.

And along with the lovely card, came the Silhouette she's no longer using, because she just got the new Cricut!!! I'm so excited, but I can't play with it yet until I get my b.day gift from hubby - a new laptop for my craft room. I am so stinkin' spoiled!!!
