Lilypad Lake Sneak Peek!
This Lilypad Lake preorder bundle couldn't have come at a better time for me! Our daughter was just offered a permanent position as a high school math teacher where she's been subbing for a teacher on maternity leave. So why is this such a perfect bundle? Well, let me tell you, LOL. Her new school district has sailboats in its logo, and the high school colors are purple and white. So... purple and white sails on "district logo" sailboats!
To be honest, I used THREE stamp sets on this deceptively simple looking card. And some long-retired silver glimmer paper, to boot! The birds are from High Tide, and the sunrise (or sunset, if you prefer) is from the recently retired Amazing You SAB set.
I'll admit that I stocked up on that old style silver glimmer paper because I wasn't very happy with the color of the newer one. It isn't nearly as bright a silver color. Now that Stampin' Up! is updating their entire line of glimmer paper {Less shedding! Easier to die cut!}, hopefully the new silver will be brighter. I'm looking forward to getting some of that new Rose Glimmer in my hands, too!

Flying Home to a Happy New Home
Our daughter and son-in-law just sold their house and moved to the Pacific Northwest. It's a huge jump from a private home on ten very rural acres to a loft apartment (studio w/ loft) in the big city. I guess they are excited about everything the city has to offer, but to me it's traffic, 24/7 noise and lights, too many people in too small a space, higher crime rate, and did I mention traffic?
Oh well, to each their own, but getting away from all that was what my husband and I worked for our whole lives. Now that we are settled on our own rural acreage, you couldn't pay me enough to live in the city again!
So, they are happy for the time being, and that's all that matters. I made them a little 'welcome to your new home card', which the Flying Home stamp set must have been made for! It is so adorable, but then, I do love the birdies!
It was stamped on 3" x 3" Shimmery White (in Basic Black Archival) and colored with a Blender Pen. I chose the Brick Wall embossing folder and Smoky Slate cardstock because their apartment building is modern gray concrete. (Yuck.) Somehow the Pinewood Planks folder, which I first considered for its woodsy feel, just didn't seem right.

Color Theory Congrats
One of my stamping family recently promoted, and I wanted to tell her "congratulations!" Since we are both in love with the Colorful Seasons bundle, and I love the coordinating suite that goes with it, I decided to open the Memories & More Card Pack that's been sitting here for weeks, not getting any love.
It's designed to be used with the Memories & More memory keeping albums, but it also can be used for cards! The sunburst background DSP, as well as the chair & umbrella are printed and ready to go.
It was so easy - all I had to do was add the sunburst sticker (included in the card pack), a Glitter Enamel Dot in the center, and a die-cut greeting from (appropriately enough) the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. Lots and lots of sunny going on here, and not a single stamp in sight!

Celebration Time Swaps
The idea for this card came to me as I was falling asleep, and I actually remembered it when I woke up! This was made for the Control Freaks Stampers swap, which we do two or three times a year. I thought since it was June (when I made it), and June is the big month for weddings, that a wedding congratulation card would be lovely. If course, you could use the Happy Birthday cake image and make it completely different.
Lots of layers on this card, just like the layered cake, and there is even a layer from the Layered Leaves Dynamic folder! (A little alliteration, anyone?)
The cake was heat embossed in silver and die cut, then the bottom half of the die was used again on a Silver Foil sheet to make the cake stand. The bottom of the cake was trimmed and glued to the cake stand. It was then popped up on dimensionals, as was the greeting (from Best Birds).
