Recently I have been drawn to B&W cards, which is probably a good thing, since I'm teaching two classes of black and white cards this month! The nice thing about them is, each element is more important, because you don't have a bunch of colors or embellishments or designer paper to rely on. Here are two of the cards we made last Sunday, and will make in the class scheduled for this Thursday.

Don't you just love the clean simplicity of a black and white card? Or even a monochrome card? I've had requests to do a "B&W" class, so I've been playing around with it. This is one that I came up with. Gotta love that XL 2-Step Bird Punch, again!
The black "DSP" on the bottom was made with with the Solid Stripes stamp in the back of the Occasions Mini. I stamped the Basic Black cardstock with VersaMark ink, then just eyeballed it to line up the next set of lines. Didn't want to get out the Stamp-a-ma-jig....too lazy rushed for time, lol! It was then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Cool, huh? Looks almost like the Groom Specialty paper. (Hmmm, that gives me an idea for later.......)

I've been busy trying to learn the ropes and get my SU web site up and running, so between that and trying to preserve the bounty from the garden, I haven't gotten any cards done lately.I did, however, timidly test the waters of scrap booking! My stamping buddy Pam convinced me to try it. I wanted to make a SB for my son and his new wife of their recent wedding. This is the result....my very first scrap book page, made just last night!
I still have to get photos printed and placed on the page, but at least I've started the project. This page will have a picture of the bride and groom separately.
I used the branched floral Cuttlebug border embossing folder from the Just My Type set on the edge of the photo mats. I think it ties in well with the subtle branched floral print on the designer paper, plus it adds dimensional interest.

My DH suggested a card design a couple months ago, and this is the result. I absolutely love that stamp ('Shadow Cats in Love' from Third Coast Art Rubber Stamps). They have a wonderful variety of images (over 5,000!), and all are unmounted red rubber, which allows you to use them the way you want.This is a simple card.
