Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Vintage Thanksgiving. I have to admit, I struggled a bit with this theme! I Googled vintage Thanksgiving greeting cards and found lots of Pilgrims and turkeys, neither of which I had available to use. So I figured Thanksgiving is all about being grateful, and I knew I could make some vintage, worn-looking elements and come up with a card expressing gratitude. 😊
After cutting the Crumb Cake DSP with the Deckled Rectangles (using the second and third largest dies), some Soft Suede ink was sponged on the edges to give it that aged paper look. I tucked a Distressed Gold Specialty Paper grid (die from the Chic Dies) between the DSP layers for some added visual appeal.
The leaf label also had its edges inked with Soft Suede, and the greeting was heat embossed in white. And I really distressed the 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" Distressed Gold behind the leaf by crumbling it up then smoothing it a bit and rolling the edges.
When the card was finished, I felt it still needed something, so I spattered some white poster paint on it (making a huge mess in the process) and added some Brushed Metallic Dots.
