SUOC55, Feel the Texture!

Another FUN challenge from SUO Challenges this week, this time to use texture on your creation. Naturally, the first thing I thought of was embossing folders....really, the variety of textures available in an instant through the services of Mr. Big (Big Shot) can't be beat! But then I started thinking about other ways to add texture and came up with this card.

Burlap is everywhere you look these days, and it certainly adds a lot of texture to any project. And, since I hadn't even opened the lovely Scalloped Tulle Ribbon, it needed some love, too.  The Floral Frames Framelets were used to cut several layers of flowers, which were "crumpled" with the Heat Tool before stacking. Then a thread from the burlap was used to make the loops on top, before adding the brad (another texture!).

While I was working on the card, this line from the Billy Wilder movie The Seven Year Itch kept running through my head - Marilyn Monroe says, "It was called Textures, because you could see three different kinds of texture: the driftwood, the sand, and me." It was the scene where her neighbor, Richard Sherman (played by Tom Ewell), sees her nude photos in a book. Well, that movie was probably before your time, but it cracks me up every time I see it!

  1. Love the tulle with the burlap. Maybe it's the two different types of open-weave fabric that complement each other?

  2. I haven't opened my tulle, either. Now I feel that I need to go find some burlap - not sure where, but this cries out for a CASE!
