This was a tough card to make, because the circumstances behind it were so tragic. You may have heard about Susan Powell who disappeared a couple years ago, supposedly when her husband took their two small boys camping (in sub-freezing weather). And then the devastating news last week about her husband killing himself and their boys in an unbelievably horrific way.
One of my online stamping friends, another Stampin' Up! demonstrator, knew Susan, and asked our stamping community to send sympathy cards to Susan's parents, who had been trying to gain custody of their grandsons. Her favorite color was purple, so this is the card I sent. It's such a small gesture on my part, but maybe they were flooded with cards, and it helped them to know people they've never met care.
Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers
Cardstock: Concord Crush, Whisper White, Flirtatious Specialty DSP
Ink: Concord Crush
Accessories: Purple adhesive nailheads (non-SU), Stampin' Dimensionals
Oh Cindy this is just lovely! I'm sure these gestures mean so much in their time of grief.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad sad story. I've followed it as well. How nice of you to send a card to strangers going through such a tragic time.
ReplyDeleteThat was a tragic ending. when I heard about it-my heart was broken. I think it's so wonderful that you all are reaching out to them. The love will be felt and God works miracles thru tragedies.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card and will be so appreciated by Susan's parents. It's difficult to imagine that good could come from any of this - but...the love and grace of God will make sure it does.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a beautiful, thoughtful card.
This is my first time to your blog. I saw your card on SCS where I will leave a comment as well.
