Stamp Review Crew - Love Cats

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's LOVE CATS edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. Love Cats is a six piece cling stamp set that was just made for kitty lovers! (I'm looking at you, Betty!) I'm not usually drawn toward cute cartoonish images, but as a cat mom, I just had to get it. Here's why (eight of the nine barn kitties, that are now porch kitties):

My first card features all three of the cat poses. I combined it with the cute Country Gingham DSP and burlap ribbon from the Country Floral Lane Suite.

The cats were die cut with the 1-1/2" square Stylish Shapes die and matted on 1-11/16" square Sweet Sorbet before being adhered to the card.

The center image was popped up and a heart pearl was added to his heart. I say "his" because our black kitty, Binx, is a (fixed) male, so of course this one is a boy. 😊

The second card also features the Country Gingham DSP, along with a strip of Country Floral Lane DSP, and Textured Shimmer Paper.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the heart for a subtle added shimmer.

A few black Classic Matte Dots help balance the black mat behind the image (also cut with Stylish Shapes dies).

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Fave New SAB Designer Paper

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is our favorite new Sale-A-Bration DSP. This one was a little harder than the stamp set, because they are ALL worthy choices in my opinion. Ultimately it boiled down to the one that could be used for just about anything, and that is Dandy Designs. Not only is it a wonderful array of patterns and colors, but you get FORTY-EIGHT 12" x 12" sheets (4 ea. of 12 double-sided designs) in the package.

I made this card to congratulate our daughter on being named Teacher of the Year at the high school where she teaches. She's so amazing (and yes I am a bit biased)! She became math department chair after only being there one year. And in addition to all her duties as a teacher and department chair, she's also working on a PhD. That apple fell far from this tree!

For this card I pulled out my Blender Pens, which haven't seen the light of day in eons. Miraculously, they hadn't dried up! For the leafy greens I used Granny Apple Green and just lightly scribbled over with the Blender Pen to spread some of the color. The flowers were colored with Blender Pens dipped in the ink smooshed in the lid of the ink pad. I used the 3" x 4-3/8" stitched rectangle die, and shortened the die cut to 3-7/8" by running just the end I wanted chopped off thru the machine again. The Coastal Cabana mat measures 3-3/16" x 4-1/16", dotted DSP 4" x 5-1/4", and Coastal Cabana print strip at bottom 1-1/2" x 4".

Beautifully Happy About Sale-A-Bration

Here is another card using the Beautifully Happy stamp set on page 13 of the SAB brochure. I started by blending Mango Melody lightly on some Basic White cardstock, then embossed it with the new Cane Weave 3D folder (pg. 31 J-A mini). It was trimmed down and matted on another piece of Basic White, then adhered to the Fresh Freesia card base.

The flowers and bee were stamped in Basic Gray. This time I used the filler stamps instead of coloring the flowers with Blends. It sure goes a lot quicker! After coloring the bee (I did use Blends on it) everything was fussy cut and popped up on the Cane Weave background.

The greeting is from Go To Greetings and was die cut with one of the Something Fancy Dies (pg. 15 J-A mini). All in all, a fairly quick and easy card!
