Oh So Eclectic

Smiley from Millan.Net

This is me doing a happy dance because the Man in Brown brought a big box of NEW GOODIES for me to play with! Of course, as soon as I opened the box I had to stop dancing....kinda hard to stamp straight if you're wiggling, ya know.

The first thing I wanted to play with was the Oh So Eclectic bundle, because I LOVE the flowers, and I LOVE the coordinating die set! The stamp sets are available in either clear-mount, or wood-mount. You can purchase the stamps and dies separately or bundle them and save 10%!

I had a 2" x 6" scrap piece of Color Theory DSP, and found the 2" width fits perfectly behind the die cut! I think the Crushed Curry ombre is just lovely, and is the perfect background for the Fresh Fig flowers (say that five times fast!).

I really should be getting the rest of my garden planted, but I can't drag myself out of the craft room! Maybe I'll wait until it cools off later today. Meanwhile, I'll play a bit more. If I do a load of laundry, perhaps I can convince my hubby that I'm being productive.

Here's the "How To"
 Flowers/leaves: Shimmery White scraps
Die cut background: Shimmery White 3" x 4-1/4"
 Mat: Fresh Fig 3-1/8" x 4-3/8"
 DSP: Color Theory 2" x 4-1/4"
 Card base: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Stamp plus signs in Crushed Curry ink on card base, as shown.
  2. Cut Shimmery White background with the diamond die, having die centered. Use dots of liquid glue to attach DSP behind it. Adhere to Fresh Fig mat.
  3. Stamp vertical greeting in black as shown. Attach to card base with dimensionals.
  4. Stamp leaves in Garden Green on a scrap of Shimmery White. Stamp large flower in Fresh Fig and color with a Blender Pen and Fresh Fig ink. Color flower center with Crushed Curry. Use corresponding dies to cut them out.
  5. Color smaller flower with Fresh Fig Stampin' Write Marker and the stem with Garden Green marker, using the marker to stamp technique. Huff on the stamp to re-moisten ink and stamp. Color flower and stem with Blender Pen in ink. Use corresponding die to cut it out.
  6. Attach flowers and leaves to background with dimensionals. Add Glitter Enamel dots.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous and a Challenge

Today I felt like playing along with a challenge, and after looking around, I settled on this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Here's the sketch:

The back side of the die cut in the Soft Sayings Card Kit was used as a mask with Pool Party lightly sponged through the openings. And I can still use it for the card kit, because the ink on the back of the die cut doesn't show on the front!

The balloons were stamped and punched with the Balloon Bouquet Punch and popped up on dimensionals. The greeting was heat embossed in white on Basic Black and punched with the Classic Label Punch, and also popped up on dimensionals, as was the entire front panel.

I wish we had small black embellishments but, since we don't, coloring pearls or rhinestones with a black Sharpie works well!

2017 CATALOG LAUNCH DAY!

Yes, I'm shouting and, yes, I'm blogging on another day that starts with "T" because this is a big day! We can all start ordering from the new 2017 Stampin' Up! annual catalog today, and I just couldn't wait until tomorrow to announce that. It's kind of a big deal, ya know?

Today's card was inspired by my stamping friend and downline, Sherry, who graciously said I could use her idea for her anniversary card. I changed it up a wee bit, but most of the elements are the same - the tree, the two Adirondack chairs, and the little enamel heart are all her idea!

This used two stamp sets, along with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits chair die. I was happy to see that Sheltering Tree carried over, and thought the greeting from Just Add Text went perfectly with the two chairs.

Ahhh, I can just imagine sitting under the tree with a dear friend, enjoying the breeze, the rustle of the tree's leaves, and the birds singing. The only thing missing in this picture is a frosty margarita. Heh heh.
