Baby Bear

I am very happy to report that the Cookie-Cutter Christmas stamp set and punch are going to be carried over! I'm happy because I can get a head start on next year's Christmas cards, but also because the little bear in that set makes the perfect "welcome baby" card.

One of my stamping team recently had a baby girl, so I needed to acknowledge that momentous occasion! To be honest, she is more than just part of my team, she is also a dear friend and one of the sweetest, most generous people you could ever meet. Her husband is, too. (He installed the new flooring in the kitchen and dining room of the house we sold last year, and it made such a huge difference in the way the house presented! There was truly awful old carpet in the dining room....ugh.) But I digress...

Anyway, I am so happy for them and for their other little girl, who is a big sister now!

Here's the "How To"
 Image: Whisper White 2-1/4" x 3" and 3" x 4"
 Mat: Pink Pirouette 3" x 4"
 Greeting: Whisper White scrap
 DSP: Subtles DSP stack 4" x 5-1/4"
 Card base: Pink Pirouette 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored & folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Stamp bear in crumb cake on smaller white cardstock. Stamp face in Early Espresso. Punch out with builder punch.
  2. Stamp ears in Crumb Cake on larger white cardstock, about 1" from top. Lay bear over to see where the oval Framelit needs to be, leaving an even border around the bear. Die cut using largest Stitches Shapes oval.
  3. Die cut Pink Pirouette cardstock with largest scalloped oval die. On the leftover scrap, stamp the bow in Melon Mambo (stamped off once), and punch with the builder punch.
  4. Adhere stitched oval to scalloped oval. Adhere bear to stitched oval with dimensionals. Attach bow with liquid glue. Add three of the smallest pearls to bow.
  5. Stamp greeting (Badges & Banners) in Soft Suede, color letters with Pink Pirouette marker, and punch with banner punch. Attach under bear with liquid glue.
  6. Adhere DSP (I used retired DSP) to card base. Adhere doily (also retired) to DSP.
  7. Attach ovals with bear to doily with dimensionals. Add medium pearls under greeting.
Remember, the Cookie Cutter bundle is retiring, but you will still be able to get the stamp set and builder punch separately....just not at the bundle discount!

Congratulations, Baby!

This card was so much fun to make - simple, yet elegant.  Someone had done gold embossing on yellow cardstock, and I thought it looked pretty neat. Then I remembered our Brushed Gold cardstock, something that I usually forget about until the holidays roll around. I just knew the shiny gold embossing on the brushed gold finish would look great!

I'm already thinking about how I'm going to incorporate this into April's Christmas Club!

Happy Birth Day, Baby Boy!

This card was CASEd from a swap I received (Hi, Patty!), and was so much fun to make, because it meant my sweet friend, Dawna, just became a grandma for the first time! Ooooo, she's in for so much joy and fun with her new grandson, Toby!!!  I swear, grandchildren truly are the reward for not killing your kids when they're teenagers. :-)

The Stitched Stockings set was used, but after the stockings were stamped and punched, the "cuff" was cut off and moved down to make booties.  It's the same principle used for the Baby Shower Invite, only done on a much smaller scale with the Stocking Builder Punch instead of the Holiday Stocking Bigz Die.  And see those nifty diagonal score lines? They were scored with the new Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Oh. Em. Gee. It's fab!

Stamps: Stitched Stockings, Petite Pairs, Everyday Wishes
Cardstock: Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist
Ink: Marina Mist Classic, Smooch Illuminate Topcoat Accent Ink
Accessories: Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Stocking Builder Punch, Modern Label Punch, White Baker's Twine, Marina Mist 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin' Sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

Welcome to the New Catalog Mega Hop!

Greetings - I'm so glad you could join us today! This is Day 1 of the Stampin' Addicts New Catalog Blog Hop. It will last all weekend, and each stop along the way will feature an item from the newly released Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog. For the complete list of blogs, click HERE. If you've been following the links in order, you just arrived from Jennifer's blog, Stampin' on the Fly. Weren't those balloons just adorable?! At the bottom of this post are the buttons leading you on to the next stop.

I am featuring the stamp set called Pennant Parade, and the matching Petite Pennants Builder Punch. You might think you'd be limited as to what you could do with this set, but you'd be wrong! We were allowed to do up to four projects for the hop, to keep things moving smoothly, but I could have done twice that easily!

First up is a card to welcome a sweet baby girl. This card is an A6 size (4½" x 6¼") to accommodate the 5th pennant. The background is lightly embossed, and there are multiple layers of ribbon. See that pink scallop ribbon? That's the new ½" Scallop Dots Ribbon, folded in half with the dots inside!
(As always, you can click on the images to see more detail, along with all the mistakes, lol.)
Stamps: Pennant Parade, Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Just Add Cake and Pretty in Pink Designer Series Paper
Classic Ink: Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Details Texturz Plate, Pitite Pennants Builder Punch, ½" Circle Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Circle Punch, White Baker's Twine, Silver Mini Brads, Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon, Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon, Pretty in Pink ½" Scallop Dots Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Up next is a fun card for the golf enthusiast....and there are several in my family! It's hard to tell from the photo, but the hole is really a hole punched in the "green". The sky was sponged on over the masked clouds. Looks like this golfer better finish the next nine holes before the rain comes!
Stamps: Pennant Parade, On Your Birthday
Cardstock: Shimmery White, Whisper White, Marina Mist, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Island Indigo, Basic Black, Early Espresso, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Classic Ink: So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Island Indigo
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka_dots Embossing Folder, Large Oval Punch, 1¼" Circle Punch, Petite Pennants Builder Punch, Stampin' Sponge, bamboo skewer, Stampin' Dimensionals

Next on the agenda is a card perfect for a friend or family member that loves to quilt. The stamped pennants were punched out and fastened to a cardstock base with the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets (that stuff is so cool)!  Then they were embossed to give the look of a washed quilt. Little knots of Baker's Twine were added for the tied-quilt look. So, how did I choose the coordinating colors?  I used the Color Coach and looked up Pool Party.
Stamps: Pennant Parade, On Your Birthday
Cardstock: Pool Party, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Ink: Pool Party, So Saffron, and Wild Wasabi Classic, Basic Black Craft
Accessories: Big Shot, Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, White Baker's Twine, Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, ¼" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

And finally, even though it's the middle of a sweltering summer, I just had to make a contemporary style Christmas card. This card looks soooo much better in real life! The Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper was my inspiration for the non-traditional colors. And guess what I discovered? You can (carefully) heat emboss the Satin Ribbon! The starburst stamp was inked with VersaMark and stamped down the ribbon (use the Embossing Buddy first!), then the gold embossing powder was added.
Stamps: Pennant Parade, Heard From the Heart
Cardstock: Basic Black, Brushed Gold, Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Black Craft, VersaMark
