My Inky Friends Challenge #14

Here we are with another fun sketch challenge, inspired by the card on the left side of page 3 in the Occasions catalog! It is a lovely layout, so be sure to click on the banner above to see what the other Design Team members did with it. I noticed a lot of Spring colors! I do believe Winter is starting to wear out its welcome, LOL.

Spring is definitely making an appearance on my card, too. I absolutely love the Floral Romance Specialty DSP that is part of the Wonderful Romance suite. Some of that gorgeous vellum print was used under the stamped (Wonderful Romance cling stamps), colored (Stampin' Blends), and die cut leaves (Wonderful Floral Framelits dies). So quick and easy to add a little something extra to the card!

I also used some of the Sale-a-Bration Botanical Butterfly DSP. The black & white images can be colored a variety of ways (Stampin' Blends used here), and then punched out with the Butterfly Duet Punch.....which is on back order now because it's so popular. It figures, right?

And also making an appearance is a bit of ribbon from the All My Love Suite. This girl just can't say no to ribbon!

Tour de Freaks Occasions & Sale-A-Bration!

Well, the Occasions catalog and SAB have been in full swing for a couple weeks now, and we just can't get enough of the awesome new products! Heart's Delight Cards, Home to Roost, Sale-A-Bration 2019, Stampin' Up!

I knew immediately which set I wanted to use - HOME TO ROOST. It's in the Sale-a-Bration flyer on page 11. You see, I'm a crazy chicken lady even though I don't have any chickens....YET. I used to have them about 30 years ago, and I WILL get some this year, by golly!

Anyhooo, I loved the rooster image and knew it would be fun to color with Stampin' Blends. I managed to get the iridescent look on his tail feathers by starting with Bermuda Bay, then adding Night of Navy and Basic Black over it. He sure is a handsome 'roo!

For the next card, I just wanted to use the wheat image. It was stamped in Pear Pizzazz, with Mossy Meadow stamped over. The greetings included in this set are a lovely group of "just because" stamps, don't you think?

The Old Olive Linen Thread and Braided Linen Trim worked well together. I thought about coloring the Braided Linen with a Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blend, but then thought it looked fine just as it is on the Crumb Cake DSP.

Up next is Kelly Acheson, at A Stamp Above. I can't wait to see what she's made!

Climbing Roses T.O.Y. (Thinking of You)

Ahhhhh, roses! I sure do love them, especially the really fragrant old roses. Unfortunately, I have found them to be more trouble than they are worth, as far as growing them. Since I'm a somewhat ~~lazy~~ relaxed gardener, pests, diseases, and pruning made me cross them off my easy-to-grow plant list. And it's not like they can be preserved and put in the pantry, either, making them worth the effort. Guess I'll put my energy into less finicky flowers (Zinnias! Cosmos! Sunflowers!) and admire the stamped images instead.

Naturally, Climbing Roses is one of my favorite new bundles, not only because the image is beautiful and fun to color, but the coordinating dies are to die for! (Heh, see what I did there?) The trellis is awesome all by itself, and I made it even awesomer by painting it with Frost White Shimmer Paint, so it really stands out on the white card base.

And the dotted label is gorgeous, as well. I didn't know what to call it....holey, holey dots, dotted, pierced? Whatever it's called, it's so pretty! It measures 1-1/2" x 2-1/4" between the holes, so there is plenty of room for greetings or images.

This is a Cling Mount stamp set so it's red rubber, which means it's good for the marker to stamp technique. I used Basic Black and Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Write Markers on the greeting, and the image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento so I could color with Stampin' Blends. The dies include cutouts for the flowers, but I did fussy cut an extra rose to pop up on dimensionals.

Now, I have to admit, the sentiment inside is not from Stampin' Up! but it was so funny, and so appropriate for me and my stamping friends that I HAD to get it. Lookie:

It's our favorite time of year - SALE-A-BRATION, and My Inky Friends have cooked up a fun hop showcasing some of the great items you can earn for FREE with a qualifying order. Heart's Delight Cards, Lovely Lattice, Sale-A-Bration 2019, Stampin' Up!

I chose Lovely Lattice because, well....flowers! And coloring! As soon as I saw this stamp set, it zipped to the top of my SAB "must have" list.

I wanted to show off the image on the clean gingham background, but I sure didn't want to fussy cut the whole thing! Using my Stampin' Trimmer, I cut just up to the image, which left about half - the EASY half - to fussy cut, 'cuz I'm smart like that, LOL!

After it was colored and cut, I put Mr. Big to work with the Subtle embossing folder to give the image a bit of texture. Once it was mounted on the gingham background, I slipped the greeting from Well Said under and adhered it all to the card base. (I figured since flu season is upon us, I'm probably going to need a get well card soon.)

Some Gingham Gala sequins were added for a bit of sparkle. It sure is easy to use those adhesive-backed embellishments! When the card was complete, the envelope flap was dressed up with the single flower stamp that's part of the set.

That's all from me today. I had other ideas, but Mom is visiting, so I didn't have time to make them a reality. Up next is Staci Miserlian, who is featuring Precious Parcel.
