CCM Saturday Blog Hop - STENCILS!

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is to use stencils, or create our own stencil using die cuts. I went with the easy choice, using the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. I used them last week for the plaid theme, and liked it so much that this week I'm using the tile looking mask!

I started with blending Soft Sea Foam onto the card base through the mask in a random manner - lighter in some areas and darker in others. It's subtle, but if you click for a closer view you can see it. Then on a scrap of Soft Sea Foam cardstock I used the same ink with the mask. It was then cut with the Deckled Rectangles Die and adhered to the card base.

The floral image was stamped on Basic White with Basic Gray ink, then the outside of the image was highlighted with a Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blend. The leaves were colored with Old Olive and the flower with Daffodil Delight and lightly shadowed with Light Smoky Slate. After die cutting it was adhered with dimensionals over some Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon. The greeting was stamped with Memento ink and pearls were added to complete the card.

Stamp Review Crew - Sale-A-Bration Part 2

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Sale-A-Bration second edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Betty's blog, Kitty Stamp, welcome! There are seven of us today, and Sale-A-Bration is winding down until next year, so be sure to check out all the inspiring projects from the crew!

Yesterday was the "February birthdays" celebration at our house. My daughter's birthday is one week after mine, and my husband's birthday is one week after hers, so we had one big celebration. This week just completely got away from me so I only have one card to share today. I chose the Thanks A Bunch stamp set and challenged myself to use it in a different way.

I thought the large carrot, turned around, looked somewhat like a palm tree trunk, and the large leaf like palm fronds so I made a little scene from them. The grass is the leaf's shadow stamp. And I found the sentiment to be hilariously appropriate!

Did you notice the embossing? That's from the Basics 3D embossing folder set coming next month!

That's all from me, so click "Next" to see what Jay over at Mitosu Crafts created, or "Previous" to visit Betty again. Thanks for stopping by!

Control Freaks Spreading Some Love

The Freaky theme this month is Spread Love. If you landed here from Debbie Henderson Designs, welcome! There are six of us today, so there is plenty of love to spread around!

My first thought for this theme was a Valentine, but with that day just passed, I then thought what better way to spread love than to tell someone how much you appreciate them? It's something I don't do enough, and I'm really trying to be better about it.

I chose Eclectic Garden, not only for the perfect sentiment, but because all of the images will work no matter who the card goes to. Plus, they are quick-to-color, and can be even quicker if you're in a hurry and use the filler stamps!

So today I'm going to give this little blue bird of happiness to my long-suffering husband. 😁 I don't tell him nearly often enough how much I appreciate him putting up with me for 48 years.

Up next is Melissa, at Rubber FUNatics. I'm sure she has something LOVEly to share!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Plaid Tidings

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is to use ink, DSP, or other mediums to make plaids. Since our daffodils just started blooming this week and Spring is right around the corner (despite the snow flurries today), I used the Daffodil Daydream stamp set and chose to make my own Spring-y plaid using the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks. I love that I can make any color plaid using the masks, and I'm not limited to what is available in our DSP packs.

The lighter green is Parakeet Party ink blended on Basic White, and the darker is Granny Apple Green ink blended on Granny Apple Green cardstock.

Measurements

  • Granny Apple Green mat behind plaid: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
  • Parakeet Party plaid 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"
  • Granny Apple Green plaid: 1 7/8" x 3 1/2"

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Non-traditional Valentine

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Non-traditional Valentine. This was fun for me because I like using non-traditional colors for various holidays, and Valentine's Day is no different!

I chose the masculine colors of Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, and Crumb Cake for this Valentine. I liked the slanted lines of the Balmy Blue Country Floral Lane DSP, and thought an embossed strip of Crumb Cake slanted at the same angle would look kind of cool.

What? You don't recognize that embossed texture? It's from the new Basics 3D embossing folder set that will be part of the Online Exclusives starting next month. There are THREE 3D folders in the set!
