CSF Thursday Challenge - CSF839

This week's Create With Stamping Friends Thursday Challenge is this sketch:

As soon as I saw it, I thought of using DSP for the pieces, and what better DSP than Snowy Scenes, part of the Snowy Scenes Suite Collection? Aren't those penguins adorable? (I mean, really....the little guy above the greeting with the earmuffs holding the gift?! Too cute!) The penguins fit perfectly in the Stylish Shapes 2 1/8" circle die.

I stamped the snowflakes from the Snowy Wonder stamp set (part of the suite) using Pool Party ink, and then die cut the snowflake from the coordinating die set with silver foil. The silver snowflakes are in lieu of the bow shown on the sketch.

The greeting was fussy cut and popped up on dimensionals over a couple more snowflakes. That silver is the only "embellishment" on this card. 😊

Stamp Review Crew - Sweet Candy Canes

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Sweet Candy Canes edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Jay's blog, welcome! Isn't his creativity remarkable? There are only three of us today due to ongoing technical issues with some of our crew's blog hosts, so the hop won't take long.

The Sweet Candy Canes bundle wasn't really on my radar at first, but it has definitely grown on me! It's a nine piece cling stamp set, and has a six piece coordinating die set called Candy Canes Dies. This is all part of the Sweetest Christmas Suite on page 9 of the Jul-Dec Mini, which includes DSP, glimmer paper, ribbon and embellishments, and another stamp & die set!

I have two cards to share today, and both of them are in non-traditional colors. The first one is in the new In Color Parakeet Party, along with Granny Apple Green and Basic Black..... it doesn't get much more non-traditional than that. *grin*

I matted the Whimsical Woodland-embossed iridescent dots from Snowflake Specialty Vellum on Parakeet Party, then on a Basic Black mat. After tying a black baker's twine bow it was adhered to the Granny Apple Green card base.

The candy canes were stamped in Parakeet party, die cut and adhered to the Granny Apple Green Stylish Shapes circle and popped up on dimensionals on the card. The greeting, white heat embossed on Basic Black, was cut apart and added with dimensionals.

The second card features another 2022-2024 In Color, this time Tahitian Tide. The white striped background die cut was adhered to the gorgeous ombre Tahitian Tide Glimmer Paper then popped up on the card base.

I colored one of the Wonderful Snowflakes embellishments with the Dark Tahitian Tide Stampin' Blend (colored on the back!) and adhered it to the card and added a few white Adhesive-backed Sequins.

Instead of using an image, I chose just a greeting, stamped and fussy cut, then popped up on a Tahitian Tide (Stylish Shapes die) mat. The bow was a bit of silver Simply Elegant Trim, colored with the dark Tahitian Tide Blend.

That's all I have to share for today, so click "Next" to see what the amazing Charlet over at Painted Orange created, or "Previous" to visit Jay again! And be sure to check back tomorrow (Tuesday), because I have another Sweet Candy Canes card in the works that didn't get done in time for this hop. 😉

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Animals

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Animals - any from the Jul-Dec Mini Catalog. There were several possibilities and I almost went with North Pole Mischief (love that cat), but then I remembered the adorable animals in the Storybook Gnomes DSP and I just had to use them. I mean, how can you not love the reindeer, moose, fox, rabbit, and birds? It's got it ALL! Unfortunately the birds got covered by the greeting tag and you can only see the rabbit's legs but, trust me, they are cute!

I was tempted to fussy cut them all and build a scene with them, but the layout on the patterned paper was perfect just as it was, so I framed it with the snowflake frame from the Snowman Magic bundle (which also has animals, by the way).

After adding a Night of Navy mat and embellishing with iridescent pearls and bow, the card was complete.

That's all for today - see you next Saturday! Up next is Libby Fens at Libby Stamps. Or click the "back" button to go back to Lori at Loritamarie Crafts.

Happy Holidays from the Control Freaks!

The Freaky theme this month is Happy Holidays! And what holiday is that, you might ask? The theme is ANY holiday, so this is going to be a fun hop. You never know what the Freaks might choose! If you landed here from Melissa’s blog, welcome! There are five of us, so hop on for more inspiration!

I'm making this a very quick post. Our son arrived for a visit this afternoon with his girlfriend that we are just now getting to meet, so I'm going to post two cards and scram so I can spend more time with them! 💕

I went right to the Celebrate Everything Host DSP, because it has a design for just about everything. It's 48 sheets of 12 x 12 paper! It's on page 87 of the Jul-Dec mini, and is one of the Host Rewards you can earn with a qualifying order or party. It will only be available until Jan. 4 (while supplies last).

The first card is Christmas-themed with the whimsical ornaments DSP, which I thought would pair well with the embossed Whimsical Woodland strip. Because the sentiment (from Brightest Glow) says All is Merry and BRIGHT, I had to add some bright gold glimmer paper and pearls.

The second card uses the fireworks pattern, which I thought was appropriate for a New Years card.

I liked the way the sentiment fit on the top half of the Beautiful Shapes hexagon leaving room for the silver cord and silver pearls below.

That's all from me today! Up next is Bree, at Craft-somnia Momma.
