CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Pastel Chalks or Watercolor Pencils

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is to use the new Soft Pastels Assortment (pg. 126 Annual Catalog) or, if we don't have them yet, the Watercolor Pencils (same page). Well, it just so happens that I DO have the pastels and this gave me the perfect opportunity to try them. It also just so happens that I still have my tortillions (blending stumps) from art class a million years ago, so I was all set! (You can use cotton-tipped swabs for blending, too.)

I challenged myself to use a stamp set that I'm not really "feeling" because doing a floral would have been just too easy for me. So I picked the Host set called Better Places. I stamped the smaller scenic image three times in Basic Gray and started coloring. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed using pastels...but then, it has been a million years since college art class, LOL.

After matting them on Basic Black, I thought a Gold Metallic Specialty Paper background would give it a bit of bling without using embellishments. I think it turned out pretty well.

That's my share for today. Now click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Control Freaks NEW Catalog Goodies!

The Freaky theme this month is New Catalog Goodies - so that leaves it wide open for us to choose! If you just landed here from Tami's blog, Swimming In Stamps, welcome! There are six of us on this hop, so it won't take long but WILL be fun!

I settled on a few stamp sets, but stuck with two main colors for all three cards; Pale Papaya and Basic Black. The first card features Sunny Sentiments and Flowers of Friendship. I stamped the flowers on Pale Papaya and colored them with Stampin' Blends to deepen the color.

The doily background is one of the Encircled in Beauty Dies - I just love 'em! I added subtle polka dots with a mask and Blending Brush, and a Brick & Mortar background highlighting some of the bricks with Pale Papaya and a sponge dauber.

The next card features another Encircled in Beauty die, and the coordinating stamp set Encircled in Friendship. The 2021-2023 In Color DSP makes a pretty background, doesn't it?

Some black twine from the baker's Twine Essentials Pack and a few sequins from the Artistry Blooms sequin pack finished the card.

The last card starts with a Pearlescent Specialty Paper background die cut with the Stitched greenery Die. I colored a square vellum doily with the dark Pale Papaya Stampin' Blend (carefully!) and added the Tailor Made Tag stamped with another of the Sunny Sentiments.

A Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon bow and some Loose Flower Flourishes were the finishers for this card!

That's all from me. Up next is the always fabulous Wendy, at Wickedly Wonderful Creations.

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Borders or Tags

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is to use borders or tags on our project. Hmmm, lots of tag dies and punches, border dies and even a border punch to choose from. Decisions, decisions! Ultimately it came down to the stamp set I wanted to use, and the chosen sentiment from that set made the die choice easy. Basic Borders, it is!

I can think of a lot of people who could use a pick-me-up, and I'm sure you can too. This was such a simple card to make...the hardest part was choosing the colors. I went with Basic Gray for the bottom panel so I could heat emboss the greeting in white.

From there it was So Saffron (some Mango Melody was added with a Blending Brush), Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, Fresh Freesia, and Highland Heather. The clouds were offset a bit and glued down, then trimmed. I did use a rotary trimmer because I wasn't sure our Paper Trimmer could handle all those layers of our lovely heavy cardstock. Then all was adhered to a Basic Gray card base and some Artistry Blooms sequins were added to complete the card.

That's my share for today. Now click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Stamp Review Crew - Hey Birthday Chick

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's special edition Hey Chick + Hey Birthday Chick! The "Crew" usually feature a stamp set or bundle on the first and third Mondays of each month, but this week we're doing a little extra hop. If you landed here from Heidi's blog, RunningW Scissors Stamper, welcome! There are four of us today, so it will be a short hop....but if you're a crazy chicken lady like me, there should be lots to inspire you!

You may remember Hey Chick was a Sale-a-Bration set, and it's returned for a limited time bundled with the Chick Dies. The coordinating Hey Birthday Chick stamp set (with Birthday Chick Dies) is in the annual catalog.

I have two cards to share, so I'll start with my favorite. I just love the combination of black, white and red.

Isn't this just the funniest image? I would imagine there would be much squawking if this happened to one of my chickens! They hate their tails being grabbed! The dotted background DSP is from the Pattern Party Host DSP.

The next card also uses a strip of Pattern Party DSP over the black chicken wire die cut.

I chose the colors for the bird and banners from the DSP. The label is from the Hippo & Friends Dies.

That's my share for today, so jump on over to see what Lou at With a Bow on Top has made!

CCM Saturday Blog Hop - Glitz & Glam

Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Glitz & Glam, featuring metallic embossing, gold leafing, DSP with metallic accents, foil, or glimmer paper. I think I got all but the glimmer paper on here, and since shiny is right up my alley, this was a fun card to make!

I started with the absolutely gorgeous Expressions in Ink Specialty DSP and used the colors to inspire the die cuts. Yes, there are two of the leafy branch... one in gold and one in Bermuda Bay. I sponged some Bermuda Bay ink on the die cut to darken it a bit so it would stand out more.

The gold stripe down the left side of the card was created with a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive covered with Gilded Leafing. Have you used that stuff yet? It is feather-light and fun to work with, but I find myself holding my breath so I don't blow it all over the place! And then wondering why I'm getting dizzy, LOL. After pressing the leafing on the adhesive, I used a piece of Stamping Sponge (retired) to carefully brush off the excess, leaving that beautiful gold stripe.

To complete the card, the 'Happy Birthday' was heat embossed in gold and a gold cord bow was added. (Since the Artistically Inked stamp set was back ordered when I made this card, I used the greeting from Sweet As A Peach.)

That's my share for today. Now click the Next button to jump over to Libby Fens at Libby Stamps, or the Back button to see what Mary Brown at Stamper Camper's Corner has made!

Stamp Review Crew - Whiskey Business

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's Whiskey Business edition! The "Crew" is made up of a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Nikki's blog, My Sandbox, welcome! There are only three of us today, so it will be a short hop.

Whiskey Business is a nine piece cling stamp set which is great for making those masculine cards, but I thought I'd branch out and make a fun fruity-type colorful drink card first!

I colored the drinks with Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends and fussy cut them out (easy to do with straight sides). The three Cheers To You were stamped in matching colors and cut with a Hippo & Friends die. The Rainbow Glimmer Paper got trimmed with a Basic Borders die. The background is from the Pattern Party Host DSP pack.

The next card is more the traditional guy type card. The whiskey decanter was colored with Cinnamon Cider, Mango Melody, and Pool Party Blends, then fussy cut and heat embossed with clear embossing powder to make it look like glass.

It was then popped up on a Cinnamon Cider tag (Tailor Made Tags). The Hammered Metal embossed background was lightly sponged with Cinnamon Cider ink, too.

That's my share for today, so jump on over to see what Kelly at My Papercraft Journey has made!
