Another Swap

Here's another card I made for convention swaps. This was for another Stampin' Addicts organized swap, but in the New Catalog category this time. I sure do love coloring with the Stampin' Blendabilities markers, can you tell?
From Millan.Net
In fact, I love them so much, I've scheduled a free coloring class to show how they are different from our Stampin' Write Markers, and the different uses of all our coloring products! If you are interested, be sure to RSVP soon, because space is limited.

Notice the floral background paper? I stamped a different flower image from the I like You set in VersaMark ink on the cardstock to make my own patterned paper. It's a great way to make your own patterned paper, using supplies you have on hand, if you don't have just what you need in your Designer Series Paper!

Big Sisters Rule!

And I'm not just saying that because I are one, heehee! I just think being firstborn has its advantages (as well as a few disadvantages). One of the big advantages is feeling so grown up when helping Mommy and Daddy with the new baby. Another is bossing your younger siblings around when they get older, not that I ever did anything like that. Ahem.

I made this card for the daughter of a friend who just had a baby. This little girl has been the center of the universe for a few years, and may have some adjusting to do, lol. So in addition to the "congrats on the new baby" card I sent the parents, I also sent her a card acknowledging her new role in the family.

Every little girl I know wants to be a princess, so I had to devise a crown for her card. I took a small bite out of a Gold Foil Sheet with the 1 3/4" Circle punch, and then a bigger bite (about halfway) with the largest of the Boho Blossoms Punch. All I had to do was trim the sides a bit and add some pearls and bling, and voilĂ  - a princess crown!

Since I don't have any stamps that say 'big sister', I just printed it out on Whisper White cardstock, using the Algerian font which looks similar to the font used on the stamp.

Didn't Make the Cut

In the process of trying to design my Convention swap cards, there were some cards that didn't quite make it. Either I wasn't happy with the way they turned out, or they were too time-consuming to try to mass produce 50 of them. This is one of them. The Pleasant Poppies background stamp is gorgeous, but I couldn't help hearing the Wicked Witch of the West's voice in my head saying, "POPpies. Poppies will put them to sleep."

I liked this card, but decided to go in a whole different direction with the swap cards. Plus, the thought of coloring 50 images and cutting 150 banners made my eyes cross!  So, this will be a good Thank You card for my cousin, with whom I am staying for two nights before heading to Salt Lake City for the BIG SHOW.

No need to call FEMA, or the Red Cross for that matter.  This disaster of a stamp room is of my own doing, and I'm going to have to be the one to undo it. Thank you for your concern, though! However, if I don't come out after a couple of days, send in a search party, will ya?  Or at least send in some chocolate and coffee. :-)

SU-Only Challenge #47

Now here is one challenge near and dear to my heart, for sure. The theme for this week's SUO Challenge #47 is Fancy Frills, and anything frilly, girly, or bling-y is right up my alley!

When I saw the new Finishing Touches Edgelits my heart sang, because there was a beautiful replacement for the retired Eyelet Border punch. I used the eyelet die on this card, layered with the new Large Scallop Edgelits.  Aren't they purdy together? They remind me of a little girl's dress!

The birds on the branch are from the Serene Silhouettes stamp set, which was at the top of my stamp wish list, too! Every one of the four images in that set will be put to good use in the coming months.

Stamps: Serene Silhouettes, Itty Bitty Banners
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink DSP
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Big Shot, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Large Scallop Edgelits, Bitty Banners Framelits, Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals
