Stamp Review Crew - Eastern Beauty Review

Welcome to another blog hop by the Stamp Review Crew! This time we are highlighting Eastern Beauty, which got a lot of attention when it was available as an early release, but has since seen little love in my craft room. I plan to rectify that right now!

The Stamp Review Crew is a group of talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the globe who, on the first & third Monday of the month, all use the same stamp set to make their creations. It's a great way to see how truly versatile a set can be, when you're seeing it through many different eyes!

I'm the last stop on the hop, so you may have landed here from Tanya's blog, Tinkerin in Ink With Tanya. Her projects always make me sigh, and it's no wonder she is a Stampin' Up! Artisan designer!

I was kind of tickled that Eastern Beauty was chosen at this time of year because I had some ideas for holiday cards. I do have Christmas on the brain a lot these days!

My first card is a holiday thank you card, and would be perfect as a thank you for a gift received, or for the host or hostess of a party you've attended.

Did you notice the centers of the poinsettias? Those are the Gold Faceted Gems made a deeper gold with the new Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends alcohol marker. Yes, you can color the gems any of the colors available, which opens up a whole new avenue of embellishment delight!

Up next is an ornament card featuring some of the dies in the Eastern Medallions dies that coordinate with the stamp set. I love how rich the Gold Foil looks with Cherry Cobbler.

I added some gold embossed "stars" from Eastern Beauty, but since there isn't a holiday greeting, I used one from Season Like Christmas, which fit perfectly on the Duet Banner punch label.

Did you notice the ornament hanger? It's the die that matches the gold "stars!"

That's all for me, so head on over to Rochelle's blog, The Stamping Blok and see what lovelies she has to share. Thanks for stopping by!

No Mo Mojo

I don't know what happened, but my creative mojo has completely vanished. One minute I was humming along, ideas popping all over the place, and then WHAM! - I hit a brick wall. I don't know if it's because this is post number 203 for this year, and last year I had 176 posts for the entire year. Maybe I used up all my ideas for the year? Do we get a set amount on New Year's Day? If so, I need to up my quota for next year!

Sometimes it helps knock things loose if I break the routine and play with some "contraband", also know as SOB (Some Other Brand). And that's what I did here. Gina K. Designs just released a new stamp and die set called Merry & Bright. Well, you can tell by the name that it's holiday-themed, and it is awesome! If I counted correctly, it's a 35 piece stamp set with a coordinating 23 piece die set.

Anyway, this was the first thing I came up with, and I actually have ideas for more! See? Sometimes you just need something new to shake up those neurons in the old brain!

Making Spirits Bright

Today is the last day of the 25% off selected stamps sale, so I thought I'd whip up a quick card using Tin of Tags, which is one of the sale sets.

The large snowflake is included with the various greetings, which made the card so quick to put together. I love the emboss resist technique, don't you? It can really highlight the embossed image!

Although the stamp sets may not be on sale tomorrow, the coordinating Stitched Shapes Framelits will still be available. I just love 'em! You can see the stitched circle if you click on the image to zoom in.

Heads up: the SU retiring list comes out tomorrow, so I will be posting on a day that starts with 'T'. It will be a little later in the day, once I get the list.

Here's the "How To"
 Greeting: Shimmery White 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"
Mat for greeting: Basic Black 3" x 3"
 Embossed background: Pool Party 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
 Silver Glimmer strip 1/2" x 3-7/8"
 Mat: Basic Black 4" x 5-1/4"
Card base: Shimmery White 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored and folded at 4-1/4"
  1. Die cut white square with 2-1/8" layering circle die. Die cut black square with second largest stitched circle die. Stamp greeting in Basic Black ink on white circle and adhere to black stitched circle.
  2. Rub embossing buddy all over Pool Party cardstock, then stamp large snowflake from Tin of Tags in VersaMark ink in a random pattern. Do the same with the small snowflake from Hang Your Stocking.
  3. Cover completely with embossing powder, tap off excess and heat with heat tool until melted. Using sponge, rub Bermuda Bay ink over the large flakes in a circular, buffing motion.
  4. Adhere silver glimmer strip about 1-3/8" from bottom of embossed cardstock. Adhere both to black mat and then to card base.
  5. Attach greeting with Stampin' Dimensionals.
