CAS Watercolor Hello

Since I had the watercolor paper and water brushes out, and I had so much fun painting this image that I used in the Stamp Review Crew hop, I decided to do another in a different color palette. I used StazOn Jet Black to stamp the tiered planter, instead of the Saddle Brown used before.

I've really been in a Spring color mood, so this time I used purples and yellows with a gray planter. The gray represents the gloomy gray weather we've been having. (Not really, but it sounded good, right? šŸ˜„) Our daffodils are sprouting and will be blooming soon. They're the bright yellow harbingers of Spring here on the farm, and I can't wait!

Because I loved the image so much, and wanted it to be the focal point, I just used a narrow black mat behind it, and popped it up on a wider Gray Granite mat, which was then popped up on the card base. No embellishments - just let the image carry the card.

Measurements

  • Watercolor paper 2 3/8" x 3 1/2"
  • Basic Black mat 2 1/2" x 3 5/8"
  • Gray Granite mat 2 7/8" x 4"
  • Gray Granite card base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored & folded at 4 1/4"

Catching Up

Heart's Delight Cards, Love What You Do, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!, Watercolor

Well I had some projects to share, and never had the time (or energy) to get them posted....sorry! Here is one of them.

Heart's Delight Cards, Love What You Do, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!, Watercolor

For this card, I put watercolor paper (3-7/8" x 5-1/8") inside the Lovely Floral Dynamic embossing folder to get an idea of where to add the watercolor wash BEFORE I embossed it. It gives a different look because the embossing creates a dam and captures more color. I wanted it more diffused, so this worked for me!

After each addition of wash, I'd use the heat tool on low to dry it. Then I'd check with it inside the folder again before adding another section. When the color washes were complete, it was embossed and then a little more color was added with a sponge dauber. I sure do love that Share What You Love Suite. So here I am, sharing it!

Rooted in Nature Sneak Peek

Heart's Delight Cards, Rooted in Nature, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card, Trees, Watercolor,

Here's another fun card using the Rooted in Nature bundle that's coming soon. I inked the tree stamp with Mossy Meadow ink and lightly spritzed it with water before stamping on the watercolor paper. After inking/spritzing/stamping a second time, I borrowed the mountains and sun in the Waterfront stamp set to build the scene - inking/spritzing/stamping each time.

Heart's Delight Cards, Rooted in Nature, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card, Trees, Watercolor,

It looked kind of bare, so I thought a light wash to represent an ocean or bay would make it look better. It really added just the right "something" that the scene needed! There won't be any greeting added, so I can use this card for just about anything!

Heart's Delight Cards, Rooted in Nature, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card, Trees, Watercolor,

I absolutely LOVE how the leaf embossing Framelits look like leaf fossils when embossed on the watercolor paper. Isn't that the coolest?! It looks like trilobites or dinosaur bones should be mixed in there, too!

Beautiful Day for a Beautiful Soul

Beautiful Day, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thinking of You, Butterfly, Watercolor, Brusho Crystals,

I just heard that a friend is getting "downsized" out of a job at the company where she has worked for almost two decades. It boggles my mind that they could do that to her.

Anyway, I'm sure she will land on her feet, and perhaps when she looks back on it she will realize it was a blessing. Even though it doesn't feel like it right now.

Beautiful Day, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thinking of You, Butterfly, Watercolor, Brusho Crystals,

The butterfly was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink on Shimmery White. I used the awesome Brusho Crystal Colors with an Aqua Painter (Prussian Blue & Yellow) to color it, then fussy cut it out. And yep, I cut out the antennae, too!

Beautiful Day, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thinking of You, Butterfly, Watercolor, Brusho Crystals,

The Whisper White panels on the Marina Mist card base measure 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" and 2-3/8" x 5-1/4", and the larger one was embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder. It's a simple card if you don't mind a little scissor work! I hope it cheers her up.

Oh, and Happy Groundhog Day! Let's hope Phil doesn't see his shadow.
