Control Freaks Say Goodbye to Old Friends

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye - The Control Freaks Tour de Freaks theme this month is "Goodbye to Old Friends" which could be retiring items from the catalog, or a friend's retirement, or even someone who is moving away; it will be fun to see what each Freak decided to do! If you hopped here from Debbie's page, Debbie's Designs, welcome! If you are starting here (howdy!), follow the link at the bottom for the next stop on the tour and to see the other six blogs.

Today I am showing three retiring stamps sets, two retiring In Colors, two retiring embossing folders, one retiring die set and a partridge in a pear tree! Not really on the partridge, but I couldn't resist....

Smiley from Millan.Net

My first card features two stamp sets, the lovely Southern Serenade (using two of the stamps), and the oh-so-useful Timeless Textures (three stamps). The grid from Timeless Textures was heat embossed in gold, then the scrolly fleur de lis and spatters were stamped in Powder Pink.

After stamping the floral stem in Memento ink and coloring the flowers with Powder Pink and a Blender Pen, the leaves were colored using light and dark Mossy Meadow Blends. The image was then die cut with the new Stitched Nested labels and the edges colored with the edge of a Powder Pink Stampin' Write marker.

A greeting from Southern Serenade and a scattering of white Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins completed the card.

The second card features the Dear Doily stamp and die bundle that I am soooo bummed is retiring. Words can't express how sad I was when I saw it didn't make the cut for the new catalog. Ahhhhh, well, I'll survive....I think.

The flowers on the sprig were colored and stamped two times with Berry Burst and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers, then stamped two more times, not re-inking the stamp. It gives a lovely softer look, don't you agree? After die cutting them with the Doily Builder Thinlits, they were arranged and glued in place. Two bows were cut from Berry Burst cardstock and after removing the ends of one, it was glued behind the other for a double loop bow.

The background was embossed with both the Hexagons and Softly Falling folders and a strip of Berry Burst Silver Edged Ribbon covered the seam where they come together. I love all the different textures and layers on this card!

Happy Stampin' Up! Anniversary

Heart's Delight Cards, Southern Serenade, Healing Hugs, Stampin' Up!

It was on this day, waaaaayyyy back in 2009, that I decided to take the plunge and become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. It was a scary step because I was worried about meeting minimums, and what would happen if I didn't. But I decided that the discount I could get on the supplies that I absolutely LOVED, and had to have, was worth taking that step.

Well, you know what? There was no pressure AT ALL! I was able to make the minimum to stay active so I could keep getting that discount, and I made lots of new friends along the way that I never would have known if I hadn't become a demonstrator! And even if I hadn't been able to stay an active demo, nothing bad would have happened. I could have kept everything and that would be that. They wouldn't take my birthday away, though I'm at the age that I'd gladly give it back, LOL!

I also learned how much fun it is to attend Stampin' Up! events, like the one that is coming up in November in Orlando. This is the Stampin'Up! 30th year celebration, and it's going to be HUGE! I know we are going to get lots of free stuff from the Occasions catalog that will be coming out in January, and get to play with lots of new products, too, like the Delicate Lace Edgelits shown here!

If you think you'd like to check out the fun, I'd love to have you join me in Orlando! The event sign up is August 14th (and will sell out FAST), so if you join my stampin' family this month, you will qualify to go to OnStage in Orlando!

And here's the best part......you'll have until the end of December to make your first quarter minimum, you get to choose $125 in products for only $99 w/free shipping, and for this month only you'll get a free assortment of TEN ink pads in your kit (your choice of color family).

Southern Serenade, Once More

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card,

I promise the next cards will not involve Heartfelt Blooms or Southern Serenade; Scouts honor! But I just had to do one more card with Southern Serenade before I move on. I wanted to try the Hinge Step technique shown in the Stampin' Up! video below, and it turned out great! The window for reserving your preorder of the Stamparatus is closed but *good news* -  it will be available in the annual catalog that starts June 1st!

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card,

I stamped the panel lace with Powder Pink, and randomly stamped the flower buds with all over the card base, also in Powder Pink.

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Any Occasion Card,

The flower sprig was colored with Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin' Blends and fussy cut before gluing it to the lace panel. A Copper Foil mat was added and it was all adhered to the card base. I chose a greeting from Thoughtful Banners and heat embossed it in white on Basic Black. That's the only thing that got popped up on dimensionals. And can you believe it.....Mr. Big was not used in the making of this card!

Here is the video about the Stamparatus - an innovative new stamp positioning tool! You're going to want this when it comes out in June!!!

Southern Serenade, an Opportunity for Embellishment

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thanks, Thank You

So I had this idea to stamp several blossom stems from Southern Serenade and color them in different colors, and then make a set of cards with coordinating DSP. And it turned out brilliantly, if I do say so myself. Except.....

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thanks, Thank You

I got down to the very last card, stamping the very last greeting, when disaster struck. I'm normally pretty good about getting a clean image because I rest the sides of my hands on my work surface to steady them while I'm stamping. Somehow, some way, I "stuttered." Meaning, I got a double image of the greeting. Which was on the already colored image panel, which was attached to the DSP, which was affixed to the card  base.

!@#&%!! A bad word may have escaped my mouth. So, I did what any self-respecting stamper would do - I salvaged it with a greeting banner! And that gave me the opportunity to use the adorable little matching blossom stamp on the end of the banner.

Southern Serenade, Occasions 2018, Stampin' Up!, Thanks, Thank You

I actually think it turned out cuter with the banner and blossom! These cards also gave me the opportunity to use up some retired DSP from my hoard extensive collection. If you want to see the other cards and get the measurements, check back on Monday. Tomorrow morning I have a New Year's card, and tomorrow night is the Stamp Review Crew post. I've been a busy, busy girl!
