Framed Florets now Available!

The new Fitting Florets Collection is available now for pre-purchase! This is a sweet little something for a stamping friend. I asked what her favorite color was, and she said she didn't really have any(!) but if she had to choose, she'd say pink and yellow. Such a lovely color combination!

I didn't use the Fitting Florets DSP on this card because I wanted to color some of the flowers yellow in Awash in Beauty to set off the yellow blossom in the colored image. A little vellum softens the background DSP further so the focal image really stands out.

I did cut the greeting stamp apart because I just wanted to use half of it. I can put it together on a block if I want to use the whole thing. 😊

Happy New Year, and Thank You!

I just wanted to take some time to wish you all a New Year blessed with contentment, good health, and lots of creativity! I find myself focusing more and more on being appreciative of all the good things in my life. I have a home that protects me from the elements, plenty of (too much!) food, a loving husband who puts up with my many idiosyncrasies, and good health.

Heart's Delight Cards, Just Because, Occasions 2019, Thank You, Stampin' Up!

Yes, there are things about this house that bug me, like the truly awful flooring in the kitchen and dining room, and the "Gag Me Green" paint in the bathroom, but I have a home - and too many people don't. I have shoes on my feet. I have a car - granted it has 125,000 miles on it, but it's still reliable and has taken me so many fun places!

And I have many friends that I've made through a shared love of stamping. This includes you, even if you are just a lurker on my blog. I am grateful that you spend a few precious minutes of a finite life here seeking inspiration, and appreciate each and every one of you!

So, my resolution is to stress less, smile more, and look for the good in everything. I think that's doable! This card was one of the extra My Inky Friends color challenge cards that I made, and it seemed appropriate to dedicate it to you. It's the Just Because host set coming in a couple days. Here's to a great new year!

Just Because Sneek Peek

Heart's Delight Cards, Just Because, Occasions 2019, Sneak Peek, Thinking of You, Stampin' Up!

This is one of the stamps in the beautiful Just Because host set coming in the Occasions catalog. I love the simplicity of the images - very quick to color, or just heat emboss and leave as-is!

I made this for a friend's husband who just had knee replacement surgery. The fact that the houseplant image isn't too flowery and feminine made it work well for a guy's get well card! And the square knot faux bow from the navy gingham ribbon isn't too girly, either. *smile*

I carefully inked up the potted plant with Soft Suede, and then the greeting with Night of Navy. It is all one stamp, so I may surgically separate them next time. The image was colored with the Stampin' Blends listed below.

Blended Seasons

Just a quick reminder that there are only twelve more days to order this limited-time bundle. I had fun playing with the leaves from the stamp set, and made a CAS card with them. The leaves were stamped with StāzOn on Shimmery White and then colored with the Cajun Craze watercolor pencil. I didn't color the whole leaf, just about halfway up from the base. Then I used an Aqua Painter to blend the color and pull it out toward the point of the leaf.

I really like how this card has a somewhat Asian feel. After I finished it, I wanted to see how it would look if it was stepped-up a bit. On the second card, I heat embossed the leaves in Copper embossing powder, and then colored them with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint. Trust me, the sheen is so beautiful; the photo just doesn't do it justice!

A second copper mat was added behind the black mat, and two copper swirls were cut from the Stitched Seasons Framelits. Helpful Hint: To get a reverse image of the swirl, cut one from the back side of the copper. Then, using a bone folder, carefully smooth it out on a hard, flat surface (like a new Big Shot cutting pad).
