A few months before my husband retired, we "bought the farm." No, really - we bought a farm! It had been our lifelong goal to get away from the stifling, soul-crushing city life and move to greener pastures. Never in our wildest dreams did we think it would be so far from where we had spent most of our lives, but when you find the place of your dreams, distance doesn't matter. Of all the places we looked at in our property search, this was the one my honey said felt like home to him. And so now it is.
So naturally, when we got back to country living (we lived for a while in rural San Diego County), having a farm house meant we needed to decorate accordingly. I have chicken-themed place mats, and an old metal sign in the kitchen that says Farm Fresh Eggs. Of course, we don't have any chickens (yet). Until now the the focus has been on getting the orchard planted and the garden set up properly. It's a lot of work! I remarked to my better half yesterday that retirement is a lot more work than I thought it would be.
Which leads me to this stamp set, Wood Words, part of the Wood Textures Suite. As soon as I saw this set, I knew it was a "must have!" This and another one called Heartland (p. 39 in the new catalog) are so ME! Both will be available in wood-mount and clear-mount options. Wood Words can also be purchased as a bundle, with the cute little Wood Crate Framelits. Since I rarely have need for a basket, box, or bag, I passed on them, but knowing me, I'll likely regret it later and end up getting them anyway, LOL.
Part of the Wood Textures Suite includes the Wood Textures DSP stack, which I know I preordered, but can't seem to find at the moment. It has to be around here somewhere! So, being the ever-resourceful card maker that I am, I pulled out the trusty Hardwood background stamp and made my own wood, using Sahara Sand, stamped off once.
Can you believe it? I didn't use Mr. Big for this card! *GASP!*
