Let it Snow

Do not adjust your monitor....this really is a black and white card! Since the Merry Little Labels stamp set coordinates with the Card Front Builder Thinlits, I thought it would be fun to put together a simple card in monochrome. The black and white patterns in the Merry Music Specialty DSP pack had the perfect design for it, too. It looks like snowflakes at first glance, but look closer....

They are musical notes! Pretty cool, huh? So naturally I was humming the tune to Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! while I was making it. Gotta love Dean Martin!

The trees and deer silhouette were cut from scraps of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, and the snowy hill they are standing on started as a piece of glimmer paper 2-7/8" x 4". I cut a slight slope making the bottom portion a bit larger than the top, then turned that top around 180 degrees and it became the bottom snow slope!

Look at how few stamping supplies it took....

The Stamp Review Crew - Merry Café

I'm so happy you could join the Stamp Review Crew today, because today's featured stamp is the sweet Merry Café photopolymer set! It was made to coordinate with the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies (pg. 213 AC), and it's so versatile for Autumn and Winter holiday occasions!

You may have landed here from Kelly's blog, My Papercraft Journey, or maybe you are starting here with my blog. Just click the links found at the bottom of each blog to take the tour!

My first project is a card celebrating Fall, my favorite time of year! I love sweater weather, apple cider, and hot chocolate, but you know what I don't love? Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Shhh, don't tell anyone!) Oh, I do love pumpkin pie, and pumpkin bread, and pumpkin scones, and the spices that go with them, but just not in my coffee. I'm more of a Mocha girl, and make mine a Venti, please! That being said, it is still exciting when PSL becomes available, because that means Autumn is coming!

The pumpkins were fussy-cut from the Painted Autumn DSP pack, an easy way to add more pumpkiny goodness!

For the next card, I wanted to show that many of the stamps can be used without being coffee (or tea) related.

This is a simple Christmas card showing off five of the stamps in the 29 piece set. Yes, you read that right! There are twenty-nine photopolymer stamps the cover a lot of holidays - even Valentine's Day!

I combined it with some scraps from the Quilted Christmas DSP stack to add a little color.

That's all for my projects. I had planned on making a Valentine card, too, but simply ran out of time. Up next is Ann, over at The Stampin' Schach. Check our her sweet creations!

Cheery Chirps & Snowflake Sentiments

This was the card I was working on in my last post, that had the tip about coloring. The Cheery Chirps stamp set is so whimsical and cute, and a joy to color! I love birds, and have so much fun watching them flitting around the garden and splashing in the bird bath.

I paired Cheery Chirps with Snowflake Sentiments, since it doesn't have any greetings of its own. I thought this sentiment worked especially well....almost like the bird is winging the greeting from my house to the recipient!

The silver Washi in the Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape added just the right touch, too. I thought about dry-embossing the background, but it would have been too busy. I kind of wanted the bird to really be the focus.

The snowflakes were used in place of embellishments.  They are in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits dies (part of the Snowflake Sentiments bundle) and were cut from the leftover scraps of Shimmery White after I colored and fussy-cut the bird.

Friday the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog goes live, and you can start ordering your holiday "must haves!" There will be a link to the PDF version on the left sidebar, but if you would like a paper copy, please let me know, and I'll send one right out!
